Great service especially during festival time. Sat in the bar and lucked out with the last two seats. I tried Elysian Wise ESB and hubby had genetic Hefewiezen. I tried the Fish taco. Don't worry it's a 14" tortilla stuffed with halibut, guac, cabbage, pico and melted cheese served with a side of fries. Hubby tried the clan strips and fries. The portions are big. Enough to share actually. We didn't share. All was very good. Again, attentive service the entire time. Would come back just to eat here.

Not worth the wait. $12.99 for cod fish and chips which didn't even include coleslaw. $15.99 for cod and clam strip combo plus a $0.99 up charge to sub coleslaw for french fries. Our order took almost 40 minutes to come out of the kitchen. Overheard the couple behind us, who ordered before us and whose food took about 10 minutes more, say they would never come back. I'll second that. Mike's Seafood was packed last night and took much less time and was delicious!

Stopped in here while on a solo road trip and sat in bar seating. Full menu there, and quick service, even though the food still takes as long as it'll take when the place is packed with patrons (at the food counter, there was easily a 10-minute line of people). I got the clam strips/beer-batter halibut combo. And here's something you don't normally get with bar food: Some subtlety with the flavors. The halibut was not only rich and moist, but the batter had the most delightful hint of...pizza dough? I can't explain it, but that's what it evoked. Likewise, the fries were crunchy, just enough salt, not too dry... With just a subtle hint of horseradish to them. Not enough for me to call them anything other than "fries" (they weren't "horeseradish fries") - just enough to make the flavor pop a bit. Good food, good service, all of this would normally merit somewhere around 4 stars, but I'll go ahead and give him the fifth, because while I was there, a family behind me (with two kids) actually called the restaurant from their booth to ask why the hell their food was taking so long. Their food took...round about 10-15 minutes, just like mine did. And to reiterate, the place was packed. Speedy service for food that gets made when you order it...is not a reasonable expectation. As the owner bantered to me after the fact, "They should've gone to McDonald's." Agreed!

Super friendly service. Great big portions. Soup was awful, kids meal was large- but bad, ran out of milk. Wouldn't go back again..,

Pretty good food but a little bit overpriced... Waitress are very friendly.. But I would choose next time another place for dinner...

This place isn't too bad. Had the combo (cod, tender clams and fries). Considering the clams WERE tender, I was really happy, so A+ there. All around pretty good food. Friend had the clam chowder and it was more gritty, less creamy, but according to her, "not the best, but not the worst." Is it the greatest place? No. Worst? Definitely not. For an area that doesn't have a lot to choose from, this place is worth the visit. Friendly staff and bartender too. Bit pricey for the type of restaurant (you order at the register and they bring it to your table and if you order alcohol, you pick it up at the bar), considering there's no actual service, but a good meal overall.

As most of the reviews all say, that cost is a little high... However the cod was enormous and could see two people on one portion alone, the chowder was absolutely amazing, the Bloody Mary was spicy and exciting, and the fries were crispy!

Great place to have a beer and some great fried seafood. True to their mission, to be a quality seafood shack. The clam strips are the best I have had.

The reviews on this place were mixed, but the more positive ones persuaded my wife and I. That didn't work out this time. The clam chowder was really good. Rich clam flavor and nice medium consistency - not pasty. It was Friday night and fairly busy. The food took 15 minutes to be delivered. It was luke warm. We looked at each other for a few seconds deliberating to send it back. We were hungry, so we kept it. The fries were too salty. We like salt on our fries, but we always taste them first. We didn't add any salt to these fries. As we ate them the saltiness grew on us to where we didn't finish them. I always finish my fries, but not this time. I think they fry them in very salty oil. My battered / fried oysters, and my wife's battered cod and clams combo were dark brown, because they were over cooked and all dried out. I struggled to finish my oysters, and my wife took hers home. I really doubt she'll eat them tomorrow. A little pricey also. We wanted a decent seafood dinner, and we were disappointed.

Great food and service. My daughter had a HUGE order of halibut and chips. Her BF had the sampler plate (cod, chips and fried razor clams). Both done just right and not greasy. I had a veggie wrap. It was good and the fries great! We sat in he bar on a very busy Sunday. The two bartenders hustle! They kept our drinks full while taking time to make a little small talk. I am not at a full 5 because of the rest rooms. Yes, it was busy, but they were pretty trashed. They should be checked more frequently. The woman's loo has a stall (so says my daughter) that must have been designed by the world's worst carpenter. You can not sit down and close the door. One too many stalls squeezed into the available space, me thinks. How did they make "code" ? Otherwise, the restaurant was quite clean.

Lovely fish and chips. Chowder that a spoon stood up in and fantastic IPA expensive but everything is up here

Save yourself some money and go elsewhere!!! I spent $12 & $13 for salads about side salad size. If I'm paying thatch I expect dinner size salad. The chicken caesar was decent but not really caesar flavored. My Cranberry Coast salad was decent too but basically just overpriced lettuce. Craisins and cashews don't equal these prices in my book. Anyone giving good reviews to their overpriced, full of sand, potato filled, paste they call calm chowder needs to put the caned stuff down and try real clam chowder. Out of all the staff we came in contact with only one was friendly. And the wait for your meal is a little ridiculous...

We ordered the cod fish and chips, clam chowder, and the bacon cheeseburger. Portions were good size. Food was just okay (although the tartar sauce was pickley and delicious!). Service was friendly, but slow.

Ocean Shores is a small beach town, meaning restaurant options are very limited. But as long as you are looking for fish & chips type fare, you'll be fine. On a recent Saturday night we walked over here from the Oasis Motel, with fingers of fog curling all around us. Bennett's is more than fish and chips. Inside the restaurant is a sports bar with a full selection of beer, wine and liquor. The restaurant was full when we arrived, but we were able to quickly snag a table just vacated by other diners. You place your order at the counter, take a number and have a seat. They bring your meal to you. JP and I went for the cod and clam strip combo. JP ordered a glass red wine too (except, I thought, you were supposed to drink white wine with fish). Our dinner took a while to arrive at our table, because they had run out of fries and had to make a fresh batch. While we were waiting, I went to the self-serve counter, to see if they had tarter sauce and catsup. I didn't see tarter sauce, but saw a spigot rising out of the counter. I figured it was the catsup. I got a little cup and pulled the lever on the spigot to get catsup. Apparently carbon dioxide had built up in the line because the red liquid inside blasted out all over the counter in a huge splatter, making me look like a complete fool. And anyway, it turned out it wasn't catsup, but was cocktail sauce. They will bring you catsup and tarter sauce out with your meal. The cod and clam strips were battered, which is my preference, and they were very good. The clam chowder was okay, but verging on being too salty. If you don't want fried fish, there is a fish burrito and crab cheddar melt sandwich. Probably the biggest plus to Bennett's is that they are open late on Saturday night, while everything else in town is closed up tighter than a tick.

Reviewers say this is the best place in Ocean Shores and we did have high hopes...... hopes changed to sadly overpriced food and long waits to even taste these choices I am at a seafood shack so I want seafood (gluten free NOT by choice) it appeared that a salad would be the ticket for me so I ordered the cranberry salad ($13.99) with a substitute of crab for the chicken and that was a $8.99 up-charge ...... let me note that a caesar salad with crab was only $18.99 - did I get considerable more crab on my salad that would be in a caesar salad....... I am not sure but the cranberry salad was good My husband ordered the crab/cheddar melt and per other reviewers photos apparently we got the kid version - the crab part was maybe 1/4" thick again no where near the other pics of this same sandwich and this came with fries not fresh ones Do not go hungry as your wait will really be at least 30 to 45 minutes whether the place is slammed with customers or when we went moderately busy - we were there about 2:45pm All said - this was NOT worth the $45.00

Stopped while in vacation. .. waited 32 min for chicken Strip basket and 2 cod baskets. The cod was tasty after pulling the burnt crust off. Tried telling waitress and she just said "that's how we do it".

One of my favorite stops in Ocean Shores. We called in our order ahead knowing there is always a dinner rush and there would probably be a wait. Our order was prepared just when they said it would be. Great service, delicious food. We'll be back. Note: For those who want a quick and cheap meal, there is a McDonald's down the street. I'll stick with a freshly prepared meal here regardless of the wait time.

The fish and chips (cod) were terrific. The price was painful. We pay less at our favorite five star restaurant. The cashier was a little snot rag. I greeted HER since she couldn't take her time To greet me. Drinks were not had due to them being insanely expensive on top of the cost of your 15.99 meal. $20 per person is horrible. But the fish was on point. Maybe lower the prices and work on your customer service.

  • Kim K.

Great atmosphere and food! Their halibut is probably the best I've ever had and the crab cakes are are large and all crab!! We will definitely make this stop next time we're in town!!

First night in ocean shores and thought we'd check out a seafood place. We go in and it's quite crowded, so we sit at a bar. We ordered our food at 4:25, and waited about 30 mins, but it was busy so not that big of a deal. My boyfriend ordered the chicken sandwich and I had a small clam chowder and a Caesar salad. The total came to $31.54. Ok? Not reasonable pricing, at all! Any way the salad lacked dressing and the chowder had pizza grease on top of it... I would not recommend this place, sorry.

Some of the best cod I have ever had (and I've had a lot, that's saying something). Driving up, I thought "Oh man. It's going to be such a tourist trap with mediocre food. Bummer!" THANK GOD I WAS WRONG! I ordered the cod and fish, my mom ordered the fish "taco" and we shared clam chowder. Clearly, you already know how I felt about the cod - heaven on earth. The batter was so tasty, it wasn't greasy at all, it was fabulous. The fish "taco" was huge, more like a fish burrito, unlike any I've had before. It was good too. And the chowder? Totally legit. Friendly service, lots of seating. If you don't like seafood (what's wrong with you!?), they have non-fish options too. Fabulous choice for food in Ocean Shores! I wish it wasn't hours away from me!

I travel a lot and thus eat a lot. I had high hopes for Bennetts. Near the ocean, nice atmosphere but lackluster food. I had the halibut sandwich. It came breaded and tasting pretty much like nothing. Breading had no flavor and the fish had no season. Also tried a bite of the crab cake, I yawned shortly after. I generally don't comment on service and the like because it has nothing to do with food. But it did take my friend 35 Minutes to get his halibut sandwich. Overall, go find somewhere else, but if everything is closed and a tsunami is coming come here.

For beach seafood the fried food isn't greasy and everything we ordered was fresh. Great relaxing atmosphere.

Enjoyable experience. My wife and I went late, they had full service at the bar, or order and seat yourself (we chose this). We each got the cod fish and chips and a small bowl of clam chowder. The food was good, service was nice, I would recommend it to others and revisit myself.

This place isn't what it used to be - which is unfortunate since good places to eat in Ocean Shores are few and far between. We were there yesterday around 3:00 p.m., and service was incredibly slow, front counter employees were rude, and the food was barely mediocre. The women's bathroom was probably one of the dirtiest I've seen in a very long time, and when I mentioned that the bathroom was out of paper towels to the girl at the front counter her response was "yeah - we know that." Nice. Won't be back. We use to love this place. Not sure if it's changed owners or what. . but it's horrific now. Do yourself a favor and do not enter this location - it's nasty.

One of my favorite places in Ocean Shores. Fantastic food (loved the fish tacos and fish and chips.) Loved the full bar, great set up/decor and excellent staff. A tightly run ship. Would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.

I had fish and chips my wife had clams. The clams were so overcooked they were uneatable. They were rock hard and tasteless. The batter on the fish was greasy and overcooked. I tried removing the batter and the fish was tasteless. Servers were friendly and efficient. Will not be returning.

There was a full lot when my bf and I showed up which we considered a great sign. Sat in the bar. Good service! Our bartender was prompt and friendly. I got "The best of Bennett's" platter and he got fish and chips. I want to give this place a 5 star rating because I loved everything on my plate but my boyfriend's fish and chips were a bit disappointing. The fish seemed over cooked and the batter was kinda weird. Crispy? Yeah but no flavor. Definitely needed the sauce. Like I said I loved what I ordered. The grilled cheese sandwich was savory and buttery and the crab was so good! The salad and the clam chowder were impressive as well. Would probably be back next time I'm in the area.

  • Tom A.

Pretty good food, huge portions. My only complaints are the don't beer batter the halibut fish and chips (it's panko) and the malt vinegar they had on table was a bit flavorless. I did eat there twice in one week, and I ended up preferring the cod over the halibut just because of the breading.

    (3)
  • Tom B.

The food was good - Best of the Best and Fish and Chips for my wife and I. Unfortunately the others in our party didn't get their food until 15-20 minutes after us. Even though they ordered immediately after we did. And then a side order of fries showed up after everyone was almost done eating. So, started out good and went downhill from there.

  • Jamie N.

If I could choose to rate ZERO stars I would. There were 4 of us, 2 kids and 2 adults, we heard the food was great. The kids ordered chicken strips and fries, which we had to order the adult portions seeing our boys, 9 & 13 will eat more than 2 strips a piece, my wife and I ordered the clam chowder (which was good) the dungeoness crab cocktail, and oyster shooters.. After paying a total of $72...12$ per chicken strip meal, which the chicken strips were cheap and the fries dried out, the crab cocktail smothered in an overwhelming amount of cocktail sauce, and the oysters having a thick white slimy film, you could say we were DISGUSTED. After kindly bringing it to the waitresses attention we got nothing but attitude and rudeness. THESE PEOPLE don't deserve your $$

  • Laurel B.

Very unfriendly staff. Paid $50 for lunch for 2 people and for that I got handed 2 paper cups to get our own drinks. Clan chowder must have come from a can. Fish sandwich decent. But really no service at all. ..not sure how the waitstaff expects to get the big Tip Jar at the front desk filled. Brought our meal and when I asked for ketchup she told me to get it myself. For these prices I expect more.

  • C M.

The service was fine on the way in but it took them the entire time I ate and then some before my friends food was even out. I had the clam chowder and a Caesar salad and she ordered the clam basket and a chowder as well. You would think they would try to get her food out around the same time as mine. Nope. Not even close. We both waited quite some time for our food and after the wait, the food was underwhelming and somewhat bland, needing copious salt to make it marginally palatable. I hate going places and feeling like my time or money was wasted, after dining here, I felt both were. If you are looking for good sea food, search elsewhere. If you are looking for good service, again look elsewhere. If you are looking for mediocrity, you've found it.

  • Mike W.

Similar to Ivar's, except a small portion fish and chips costs $18.99, takes 45 minutes from order to table, and delivered by pissy teen staff.

    (1)
  • Afsheen S.

We had the breaded fish and chips, clam chowder and clam strips. All were delicious. Normal wait time for food, although there weren't many people in the restaurant. Only complaints: price and awkward "self service" dining room. The staff were extremely friendly when I ordered at the counter, but for the prices they charge, it would be reasonable to expect full service in the dining room.

    (3)
  • S T.

Limited menu, but they know how to do it well. We had several of their items including battered cod, breaded halibut, fish taco, clam strips, oysters, clam chowder, and coleslaw. Everything was fried expertly, crispy and hot but not greasy or overcooked. The wait was very long for our food, and there was no clean table when we arrived, but looked like they were running on minimal staff. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious, so it was well worth the wait.

Exactly what I wanted after my visit to the beach. It was evening and a bit chilly on the water, but I still wanted my seafood fix. Well, Bennett's gave it to me! You walk in and order and choose your seat. We opted to sit outside so we could take in the breeze off the water. When the food came, I devoured it. Fresh fish and chips along with some clam chowder. YUM! A few things I will say: The bathroom wasn't that clean and the location doesn't show up on Maps when you do a simple search. I know that there is another location across the way in Westport, but we had to call to figure out how to get to this one and we were literally across the street. Very weird. All in all, great food and exactly what I wanted for my beach day :)

  • Bj M.

Took a crazy long time to get our food...and they actually forgot one plate of food for the table next to us for so long everyone at his table had finished eating before his came out. The chowder was tasty but VERY heavy on the potato. Thought for a minute it was just tasty potato soup. The batter on the fish tasted burnt...and the crab cakes were 'not bad'.

    (2)
  • Wendi S.

This place is expensive but everything we ordered was very good. We ordered to go. The crab cakes were served on a bed of shredded lettuce with great flavors and fresh avocado. Sons enjoyed the crab melt and chowder!

  • Lola N.

I'd been looking forward to going there as it looks like one of the better restaurants to dine in. I ordered fish n chips and the "famous" (frozen) crab cakes. I returned the meal after forty minutes of waiting and biting into a cold crab cake. I was told I could pick something else off the menu but would not be allowed a refund. I asked what else they could do to assist me as I wanted to go home, not wait for more cold food and it was SLAMMED in there. I tried to be polite and was to a point until the cook, who was also the manager, who was clearly being overworked muttered profanities I overheard in the kitchen and the waitress refused to engage in conversation or assist me AT ALL and told me that the owners would surely tell me no refund (which I wasn't asking for, I was asking with whom I should speak with at a less busy time without being reprimanded for wanting my food cooked timely and properly) - by the end of the conversation, I was livid, they clearly don't care - the owners don't care - the ignorance in the service was beyond evident and I literally was ripped off $16.99 for one bite of a HORRIBLE CRAB CAKE. I tipped my remnants of my plate to the floor and stormed out. DO NOT EAT HERE FOR FAST OR EFFICIENT SERVICE.

    (1)
  • Mike V.

Good beer selection. Wait was long but it was very busy. Had the Crab Melt and Cowder. The crab was a little cold in the center, and lacked much flavor. Cowder was average. Cool atmosphere and the staff was nice.

Ok, I don't usually eat shellfish for religious reasons at the moment. But I decided to take a "cheat day" a few months ago because a bunch of my girlfriends I was with raved about this place, I was on vacation, it's not like I've never had clams or mussels or crab in my life, and....well, when in Rome (or I guess when in the Pacific Northwest). This trumps any seafood I've ever had in Los Angeles....and even though I'm a proud native of the "culinary metropolis" I live in....I have no problems when saying that someone has us beat. And that someone is Ocean Shores. And the culprit is Bennet's Fish Shack. I'll just put it this way: If you don't believe that there isn't a little bit of God dwelling in those crab cakes, tender clam strips, or clam chowder (oh yeah, or the crab grilled cheese) then I'm going to suggest that you do some further spiritual work. That stuff was made by angels and will make your brain forget about all of the evil in the world while they are dancing on your taste buds. Don't expect crazy dote-on-you customer service. This isn't the Four freaking Seasons. The word "shack" is in the restaurant name. But DO expect mind-blowing food. Note: we went for lunch, we were a party of 10, we were served promptly (and VERY satisfied)......and then two days later I called in a take-out order of basically the same exact stuff because I just needed more of it in my life. No, go out and let your life be changed.

Friendly staff. Delicious clam chowder!!! We ate prime rib and shrimp and cod and shrimp Boy were they well served! The only negative is the batter to cover the fish was too oily. Dave

Was very non-plused by the prices until I saw the portions then I changed my mind. The food was very good. My family and I left very satisfied and full. We even left with boxes. Atmosphere is VERY family friendly. It's a great place to eat!

Who are you people and who wrote these reviews? Are you kidding me? This place is a disaster. The service is beyond horrific, the food is of varying quality, but mostly poor, and the prices are absolutely ridiculous. Here is your Bennett experience. For a "shack" it is much nicer than say the clam or lobster shacks you'll find dotting the coasts of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. You actually start feeling a bit optimistic. You stand in line at the counter, you give them your order, you go find your own seat, the food shows up. There were three of us. We ordered the following: 1. Clams and cod with fries 2. crab and cheddar sandwich 3. Crab cakes 4. A side of coleslaw 5. A bowl of chowder There were three glasses of house pinot grigio consumed with the meal, at a reasonable price of $7 a glass. There was also an ice tea. Our bill? $103.00 - just let that sink in for a moment. That is $34.33 per person. And we wait. Our ticket had the time we placed our order - 7:56 PM. At 8:46 PM I went to the counter and got the, "oh yours is the very next order coming," which seems to be code in restaurants for, we don't know when it's really coming. We literally looked up pizza places via Yelp to get one delivered while we waited, but nothing on Yelp appeared to be worthy of our business. 9:02 PM our food arrived. Clams and cod fish: First the good. The fried cod was outstanding. Well battered, cooked to perfection and fresh. That ends the good. The clams consisted of 12 fried to death dark brown balls of breading that once were clams. The fries were, well fries. The portion was ridiculous small for the price, the wait, and the service. It was served in a 7 inch pizza pan. For reference I took a picture not of my meal, but of the pan it was served in, with the cup of tartar, ketchup and lemon wedge, all of which were touching the bottom of the pan when served, with a dollar bill. $34.33 per person, one hour, six minutes for burned, flavorless clams, fries I could get at Jack-In-The-Box and two, small, albeit outstanding pieces of fried cod. Crab and grilled cheese sandwich with fries: First the good. Well, there isn't. It was described as, "meh," not bad, not good, certainly not worth the price and certainly not worth the one hour and six minute wait. Served in the exact same 7" pizza pan, $34.33 per person. Crab cakes: When they arrived the server brought - a second crab and grilled cheese sandwich. God love the poor young girl, but we weren't pleased. I went to look at our ticket and what a shock, it doesn't have what we ordered, but she assured us the right order would be made. Three minutes later, crab cakes arrive. What? Wait - it took one hour and six minutes to fill our order but it takes three minutes to make crab cakes? The crab cakes were declared good actually - not great but good, and they beat the crab cakes we had the next day. The rest was meh, and yes, served in the same 7 inch pizza pan. $34.33 per person. The clam chowder: forget it. Awful. The base tasted of industrial thickeners, the potatoes were over cooked, there was no flavor of celery, or pepper, and the bits of clam were consistency of rubber. At least you could taste them and identify that yes indeed, these were once pieces of clams. Even for coming from a plastic container, for $5.95, it was lousy. The coleslaw: given how much we paid and for how little we got, it's kind of shameful they charged for coleslaw. It was coleslaw, neutral, not sour and not sweet, just basic mayo based slaw. So we left, still hungry, and highly underwhelmed. The sad thing is that most people won't read this review until it's too late. The process being oh were away for the weekend so lets pick that seafood place with the full parking lot. I also have to issue a broad condemnation of the entire Ocean Shores restaurant scene. When you live in a community with a steady stream of tourists, I guess you don't have to try that hard. In all the years I've lived here I haven't had one good memorable meal in Ocean Shores. Zilch. No one there even tries it seems - beyond charging outrageous prices for lousy food, that is mostly pre-prepared and being heated up. There is no excuse for frozen clam strips in Ocean Shores. None. There is no excuse at Long John Silvers for that matter to serve clam strips fried to death, as hard dark brown flavorless balls of breading that crunch. There is no excuse for plastic container clam chowder - not at these prices. And the management can reply and insist it was all fresh and prepared in house but anyone who has ever stepped foot in the kitchen of a restaurant serving fresh food would know, it was frozen and pre-packaged garbage - sans the very fresh fried cod I was served. $34.33 a person - my advice - run for your life and never look back, this is a tourist trap, an insult to seafood, and represents a region that should actually offer quality seafood because oh I don't know, the ocean is just right there

No servers since you have to order at the register. Food is just ok. Don't be fooled by the signs outside of winning awards. I would not go back.

Ocean Shores...one of my favorite little getaways...Just wish the town didn't look like a ghost town past 7 oclock. Bennett's is one of the few places in town that stays open late. I'm not sure if we were just starving and everything tasted delicious or was it because it was just delicious.. Who knows, but for the price and location this place hits the spot. if you want fried madness get the sampler plate..its a good artery clogger. I got the fish taco, which really was a burrito and that was okay..It was definitely loaded with more veggies than fish. Overall a good destination on the coast of Washington.

I seriously question (see: judge) those that had the audacity to give this place 4 or 5 stars. In order to calm myself, I have to pretend that they are shut ins who have recently been released, and Bennets was the first restaurant they stumbled upon. I was beyond disappointed with this place. Here is a step by step look: 1. Came in, looked at the menu. 2. Almost choked on my gum at how expensive everything was for a place claiming to be a "shack". 3. Decided the food MUST be worth the price....right? 4. Ordered from the girl at the register who looked as if she would rather have her teeth pulled than be where she was. 5. Sat at a table to wait. 6. Waited some more. 7. Got our drinks and ketchup. Both ran out while we were getting them. 8. Told the register grump. 9. Returned to our seats to wait---settling on a different drink and zero ketchup. 10. Waited. 11. Tried to entertain our hungry kids. 12. Waited. 13. Read over our bill. Did we really just pay 55 dollars at this place? 14. 40 minutes later, the food arrived. 15. Grossest clam chowder ever.....and I am a PNW and south Cali clam chowder expert. You can trust me. Save yourself 6 bucks. 16. Yikes! You get very, very little food for the price. Very. Little. 17. Husband's hamburger was mostly bun. Come on guys, for 14 dollars, there ought to be some hamburger in the hamburger. 18. The fish and chips were pretty good. They were the best part of the experience here. Bummed that cole slaw didn't come with it...but that's just me. Fish=yum. Chip=regular fries. 19. Left feeling bamboozled and ashamed for having tried this place. The shame won't wash off! Save yourself a trip unless you like to wait around for expensive, meh + food.

Lynzee M. has the best review of this place. The one star is for the ridiculous prices for unremarkable food and the grumpy service. Can it be called service if you order at a counter and the food is dropped at your table and a server never comes by to offer additional drinks or water? I don't know why it was recommended by the hotel proprietor. I've had meals in Ocean Shores and Westport for years because my friends always insist on going out. Everyone learns the hard way. Never anything to praise or recommend. They have entrees that are delivered frozen from their suppliers, soup out of cans. Two small pieces of fried fish and the rest of the plate is full of fried potatoes--- very ordinary potatoes. And you are charged Seattle prices. You are just considered stupid tourists to be picked clean. When I go to the coast now, I stop at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods and also pick up some growlers of microbrews. For what our group spent on a meh meal at The Shack, I put on a BBQ feast of steaks, salmon and crab, quality wine, an array of cheeses, salads and bread, great beers.

Delicious clam chowder bread bowl - though it's too much to finish! Amazingly fresh and tangy raspberry lemonade, and tasty Cesar salad. Clean, nice atmosphere, and maybe the best place in town.

One of the best meals I have ever had regarding seafood. Halibut, clams and fries were awesome. If it weren't for the not so great service...it would have been a perfect review

Slow service and mediocre food. Got to the restaurant around.8pm. Place was about 2/3 full,.ordered food, then waited and waited and after 45 min the place only had around 10 tables of people and still no food. I noticed the folks before us were also still wanting. Then after almost a foul hour our food came. This in a restaurant that was over half empty.is rediculous. So then the food. I had the clam strips. They were nice big pieces, which was great, but they wetter over cooked. Not golden brown, but a tuff dark brown and they tasted of old oil. And the fries were also over cooked.Browning on one end and tasting of the over used oil. I was very disappointed. This is one of the nicer looking restaurants in the city, but was hand down the worst food I had all week. Maybe if you plan to come here, come earlier when the oil in the fryer is fresher...

This was my third visit to Bennett's. As I rated it- "A-Ok" but down graded from my visits of two years past. The halibut was too heavily breaded and the selection of salads and dressings weak. I again sat at the bar where the service was very good. I'm fairly certain that I won't visit again in the future.

My family went here because it looked like a nice place to eat. When we first walked in it was nice, pretty busy but we found a place to sit after we ordered at the front?! Lol but we got our food after about a 35 min wait but it looked good! The one problem that I have and the reason I give this place 1 star is because while we were being handed out food 2 bees were around my niece and we were trying to get them away and she (. ) was very rude. Long story short the bees stung my niece and the waitress threw our food on the table and left.. The worst restaurant service I have ever encountered and then she went and told another waitress what happened and proceeded to look at us and laugh. However we told the manager who was extremely nice and understanding and she gave us $20 gift certificates for each of the checks (there were three of them) it was very nice and appreciated. However they probably won't be used. Later to find out the girl was fired for previous issues included.

We continued our quest for an affordable and satisfying meal in Ocean Shores. We had been to Bennetts two years ago and enjoyed it, but it seemed like there have been a ton of bad reviews recently. We tried it again, and the reviews were mixed. The fish and chips were ok, nothing great. The clams were chewy and more breading than I like. I ordered the bacon burger, which I specifically asked to be medium and fries extra well done. This really confused the girl who was taking our order and she had to ask a coworker for help. As you'd expect, the fries were soft and the burger cremated. We needed some more lemons and tartar sauce and I flagged down a waitress, who looked right at me and kept walking the other direction. Definitely a lackluster experience and I feel it was very pricey for what you get. I won't say I'll never go back, but it won't be high on my list on our next visit.

I had high hopes for this place after reading the rave reviews, but I ended up with disappointment. The set-up is a little strange, you place your order at the counter but they bring you the food. That wasn't explained to us but I asked, so that was fine. Now, onto the food. We ordered the fish taco, the best of the best (chicken cranberry salad w/ 1/2 of a crab melt sandwich), the fish (cod) & chips combo (comes w/ calamari and clams) and the "fresh oysters". First of all, the biggest rage--THE "FRESH OYSTERS" ARE ACTUALLY FRIED OYSTERS. What the hell?? You'd think that they would just be raw oysters on the shell, right? Wrong. The strangest thing was that as we expressed our surprise at the fried oysters, the waiter said "Oh yeah, people get that confused all the time and think they're supposed to be raw". Okay, I get that, but wouldn't you change the name on the menu, then? Ugh. The Fish Taco is actually a burrito with a lot of fish, but it was really bland with the exception of an overwhelming lemon juice flavor, which is typically not how I like to eat fish. Meh. It had potential, so it could improve a lot if they decided to put some real sauce on it. The Cod fish & chips combo was meh, and my parents noted that the oil they fried everything in seemed really old. The cranberry & chicken was overdressed and the crab melt wasn't really anything spectacular. Overall it was a meal that left us really bloated and disappointed, but I guess there isn't a lot of competition for restaurants around Ocean Shores. Honestly, I want to believe this was an off day for them since it was so busy because of the holiday weekend, but I won't come back here.

We have been going to Ocean Shores annually for the past five or six years for a Summer weekend break. I really don't know how we have never been to this place? It was soooo good. Huge portions (my hubby and I split the breaded cod, clams and fries basket) with a cup of chowder (OMG!) This is a new favorite. There is a bit of wait to order, and you have to be creative to get seating, but it really is worth it!

  • Karen B.

The food was ok but the service and prices were the absolute worst! We were visiting Ocean Shores for the weekend two weeks ago and decided to try this place because it looked like a potentially nice place from the outside. Also, they had posted some great reviews outside their door. The moment we walked in we were surprised that they had a counter in the front to order at- like a fast food place but the prices were those that you would pay at a decent sit down restaurant. We stayed anyway because we were hungry and the reviews for the food were positive. In hindsight it was a mistake. The twenty -something, quasi frat-boy st the front counter was a surly punk. His attitude shouted "why are you here making me work?! You suck!!". The food took about a half an hour to get to the table, delayed by boyish hi-jinx in the kitchen. Wouldn't be surprised if they licked the food. Deeply regret spending thirty five bucks here (caesar salads, no drinks). Don't go. :(

  • Al C.

Yep. It's a shack all right. Ordered the fish tacos trying to find something that wasn't deep fat fried. I got a fried fish with cheese and lettuce in a burrito. The wait was long and silverware comes in a stainless steel bucket on the table. My fault - wrong expectations. Won't be back.

    (2)
  • Deb P.

The fish and chips was really good. The "fish tacos" was really a fish wrap, which was ok, but a bit of a surprise. Overall, the food was pretty good, and it was a fun atmosphere. However, expect to wait a long time for food if it's busy, and bring blankets and sweatshirts in case the only open seats are outside. I would go back for the fish and chips! The food is pricey for a casual dining place, but this is by the beach in a seasonal business area. It's to be expected.

    (3)
  • Nicole C.

The cod was good but we waited 45 mins and we're uninformed about what came with the food. I am not all that impressed.

  • Rebecca T.

Very disappointing. We placed a to go order of the cod combo and a grilled salmon ceasar salad. The combo was fine. It had generous portions of cod, clam strips and fries. The fish was thick with a light batter. I would rate it middle of the road. I've had worse, but I've had better also. The salad was horrible. Caesar salad is usually pretty simple. This one had half of an avocado, a peporcini(sp?), tomatoes, parmesan cheese, lemon and red onion. It was very weird. The red onion was kind of hidden. I didn't notice it until I ate one, which was unfortunate as I hate them. There was a ridiculous amount of cheese. It made the salad very dry and overpowered the ceasar dressing. The salmon was the worst I have ever had. It was so overcooked and dry. It didn't have any flavor at all. To top off, we paid $33 and waited for over half an hour for our food. I don't know of we will ever come back, but if we do I will stick with the fried foods.

If I could give negative stars to this establishment I would. My friends and I had the absolute worst fish and chips that we've ever had there. A friend had recommended this place and we had expected something at least edible. Service was rather slow and when our orders were brought to the table the fish was burnt and hard...had to cut it with a knife to even try to find edible parts. I guess maybe that's the reason for the slow service...the length of time it takes to overcook the food. When we commented to a server that it was really bad tasting and burnt she informed us that at that time of the night the oil is dirty so the fish gets darker. WOW !! Then she asked if we'd like her to have more made for us. UMMMMM if the problem is dirty oil why would I want more? Then when speaking to another server her explanation was that it's beer battered and should be like that. Then as I was taking pictures, because no one would believe how really awful the fish was without facebook photos, she was very snotty and asked if she could clear the table now. Again WOW. Wish I could post the pics here. I guess I can give that one star for the fries. They were good.

  • Jay F.

Three stars is a bit of a stretch. The food was decent, with the exception of the crab cakes. That was the ONE thing I wanted on our trip to the coast and I was disappointed. Ordered the cod combo and enjoyed it. Definitely not enough food for the price they charge. In short, decent food that's overpriced. On the upside, my son enjoyed the cute waitress.

    (3)
  • Brian T.

Tourist prices but I had the "Best of the Best". Half crab melt, with a cup of chowder, and a chicken salad. All tasted great and worth the cost. All fresh and not greasy.

  • Natasha J.

This is the 2nd time I've eaten here and it's still terrible and way too overpriced for what you get. The seafood was meh, the service was slow and unprofessional (picture a bunch of teenagers running a restaurant) and the meals were way too overpriced. I ordered the chicken taco (which was more like a wrap) and it was terrible. No flavor at all, too soggy and gross. I asked for something else (and being a non seafood eater, I only have like 4 options) I ordered the burger. It was way too greasy, cheesy and gross as well. We will not be coming back at all. The other patrons in the store were silly, running around, causing noise, so this atmosphere of a sit down place to eat is more like Chuck E Cheese. Terrible food, bad service and bad atmosphere. Oh also - someone needs to be checking their bathrooms for cleanliness. Gross!!!!

  • Mary J.

Great food, service was great and the food came out fast. I am not sure why people say the portions were not sufficient because they are huge I had to take 1/2 my fish taco home ....

    (4)
  • Gary W.

Huge pieces of Halibut, nicely breaded. French fries are hand cut. Was a bit slow in taking our order, even though you place it at the counter. Service was good though overall. Prices are not out of line. Clam chowder was a nice potato soup. Found two clumps of what I thought was soft potato, but turned out to be clumps of the rue to thicken it. Very little overall taste. It's like they wave a couple of clams across the top of the pot. French fries were a tad soggy, even with being well cooked. Tater sauce was horrible, tasted like paste from 3rd grade, come to think of it, the paste was better. Most annoying thing, the music. It's not a bar, get new speakers and turn it down Most likely would not eat here again

That was literally the WORST fish and chips I have ever had, I have had better fish at McDonald's..... initially I really liked this place, the inside is new and modern, with very good flow and I like the ordering at the front counter and self seating. Prices are very steep, but with the expectation of fresh delicious fish it is easy for me to look past a little bit of a overpriced meal. The fish was absolutely positively GROSS!! Most places serve you three or four 2-3oz fillets, my fish and chips came with two monstrous 5-6oz pieces (I like the over all portion but cut them into 4-5 pieces) My problem with this is pretty simple, first they were undercooked, the batter was still spongy in parts and the fish was literally just warm enough in the middle that I wasnt worried I would get sick. The batter was literally barely crispy at all and the size of the pieces made me have to tear them into more manageable pieces; doing this caused the average piece of fish to have barely any batter or anything on it. Im a huge believer that you should let the flavor of fish stand for itself, but my food had literally 0 flavor. The fries were awesome and the employees were nice. Id stop back in for a good beer on tap but I will never give this place my money in exchange for food again. Their definition of "fish and chips" left me feeling let down and nauseous

    (2)
  • Morrison K.

This place has big portions for sure, huge pieces of cod in different breading than most places so that was nice. I lil bit pricier but I enjoyed it too much to complain. Clam chowder was also crazy good

Ordering a burger at a "fish shack"? Are you kidding? Yea, that is what I did. Only because I had fish for the previous 3 meals and I was craving something that did not swim in the ocean. So I ordered the bacon cheese burger. WOW, what a burger. It was huge and took a full 3 napkins due to the juices oozing out of it. But I was totally blown away with the fries. I had enough to eat with the huge burger, but the fries were soooo good, I could not stop eating them. I also have to give the place kudos for having cups for the ketchup that were big enough so that 1 cup will handle a lot of fries. very nice. I am definately going back for more. Next time, I may even try the fish!

Food was good but expensive, especially for a "shack ". Service was very poor. Wasn't overly busy, yet we waited 35 minutes for our food. Cashier was grouchy and unfriendly. $65 bucks for our family of 4, one being a kids meal.

    (3)

Our server was awesome. My fish and chips were very good. However, my wife ordered the salmon steak and ended up with a pre frozen thin salmon filet that almost had the consistency of jerky.

I thought I would try this out. YIKES! The prices! For counter service as another person mentioned. I went here at lunch. I thought it was interesting that their "special" of the day was Prime Rib Sandwich when this is a "fish" shack. They also have chicken tacos on the menu. Since this is a fish shack, gotta order fish. I ordered Dungeness Crab Cheddar Melt. $15.99 for that. YIKES! Oh.... it comes with fries! Ok, that explains the price. NOT! I still think that was pricey. (even a bowl of chowder was pricey!) Gotta admit, there was a generous amount of dungeness crab on the sandwich. However, the fries were the kind that...... I think this is a different oil or different method of frying, but they were "orange-y" colored not "yellowish." I'm not a fan of "orange-y" fries. I don't like the taste. I ordered it as "take out." It wasn't that busy and I only had to wait ten minutes. If you are in an RV, there is a huge empty parking lot next door near the skateboard park.

Great food & environment Fair prices. 2 glasses of white wine plus fish tacos and waiting 40mins, $30+tip Ok service... I sat at the bar and the bartender with the bow tie was kind snob. He was kinda rude. Anyhow that's my opinion. I think he was very nice to some ppl but not others. That's why 3 stars instead of 5. They weren't friendly. Maybe because they were busy but I don't think so

So disapointed. I've been to The Fish Shack.before and had mediocre service. I tried them again this weekend, as they have some of the best vegetarian options on the Harbor. Worst idea! First off, it's counter service. I didn't mind, but they only have giant booths or small tables. When they're busy, it makes funding a table difficult. Your also paying table service prices. Second, it took an hour, yes, 60 minutes for our food to come. No warning. No wait staff to come apologize it check in. Just 60 minutes of "We must be next". I would never wait that long for food, not even with table service. With an infant, it was like hell in the OS. It wasn't busy, not all the tables were even filled. Third, not kid friendly. All the "kid" options have dairy and no "vegetables". French fries and salad are not vegetables. When I asked about a side of broccoli, the counter staff quickly said "no, we only have enough for the prime rib dinner". That may be true, but you didn't offer any other options. I won't be coming back. I may try the Westport location, but nut holding my breath.

Great atmosphere, good size portions, good menu options, friendly staff. The food took a little while from ordering to table, but the server was so friendly and it tasted so good, I could forgive the delay.

The rudest cashier that I have ever experienced. Don't ask her anything because she will reply..."that's not my job". The bus boy walks around throwing the tray in the air. The food msy be good, but I wouldn't know becsuse the staff were too busy talking to wait on customers.

I really do like Bennett's and have been there several times. The owner is a great guy and usually the staff is great. Aug 13, 2015 I went to the bar just as they opened wanting a good bloody mary. The Bartender, Brad, had no personality. He almost seemed bothered that someone would be wanting him to make a drink as soon as they opened. The bloody mary was good, but for house vodka, single, it was $9.75!!! What? Not worth it. :(

  • Serena D.

Took over an hour for the food to be delivered after we stood in line to order it. If it's not busy we might go there again, otherwise there are other places that are roughly the same price with a better selection. If you plan on going plan on waiting a long time to get your food.

    (2)
  • Daniel M.

I've eaten here close to a dozen times now. It is usually the first stop on our ocean shores trips. Food is delicious, but with a family of 5 you really can't escape without spending $60+. Also, even when the place is deserted the wait is 20+ minutes. I seriously feel like sometimes I could catch, clean, and cook my own fish in the time it takes to get the food.

Fish taco was excellent. At first we were not sure if we order at the front counter or have the waiter take our order. My wife ordered the crab melt sandwich and the middle was cold.

This is the 2nd time we've eaten at Bennett's. Our first visit was one year ago. I had the cod fish and chips and hubby had the cranberry salad. I wasn't that impressed with the fish and chips (at least not enough to push me to write a review), but hubby loved his salad so much he insisted we come back again when we were on vacation this year. This is a semi-counter service restaurant. You order and pay for your food at the counter and they bring it to your table. The server who took our orders was very polite. There was some kind of Monday night special happening in the bar, which we didn't know about until we were on our way out after dinner. This explained why she asked us if we wanted the bar and when we declined, if we wanted to eat hamburgers. I wish she would have told us about the bar special because it may have changed our plans. The food came out quickly. Hubby had the cranberry salad again, which he loved just as much as last year, and I had the fish taco. I was expecting standard fish tacos, so when the food came I had to verify that my dish was correct. Instead of fish tacos, what came was a sandwich wrap. I decided to give it a try and am very glad I did! I believe the fish was their fried halibut, wrapped in a spinach wrap loaded with a delightful slaw, avocado, and lettuce. The flavor was fantastic. It was served with their very yummy fries, which my hubby couldn't keep his hands off. I also had a bowl of clam chowder. I am very picky about my clam chowder and this was on par with some of the best I've had. My only wish was that they didn't out the huge dab of butter on top or served it with something that I could have used to remove the already melted butter. Don't get me wrong, I used to love having that dab of butter. The bigger, the better! But I've been changing how I eat and the spoonfuls I had without butter were just as good as those with the butter. We will probably go back one more time before the end of this trip, and this time I'll ask them to hold the extra butter on my chowder

Really, really, really good. The amount of food is very generous. The dining areas and bathrooms are all very clean and have a homey feeling. My family and I loved the place and will come back next time for sure.

  • Lea J.

My siblings had the fish tacos and they were fantastic! They had GF options (which the waiter knew immediately upon being asked), which is so wonderful for someone from the Midwest, where a lot of restaurant people don't know exactly what GF is yet. I was able to try their crab and cheddar melt with home made corn tortillas, which were quite tasty. The crab melt was good, but not a flavor explosion, could have used some herbs and salt, but i think it was prepared how they usually do it in this area, so who am i to judge? The service was quick and friendly. Nice atmosphere. Clean.

Here on business & First time visiting the Washington Coast (Oceanshores) and I must say Bennetts is a must if you're having a craving for some delicious seafood & casual atmosphere! I had the Crab Ceasar Salad Hubby had the Clam Chowder & Oyster Shooters and it was all so good. We sat in the Bar and our server was very nice and friendly and the service was Great! I highly recommend this place. Cheers!

Long wait for food. Checked in at 3:11, got served at 4:00. Large clam chowder seemed a bit small. I was super hungry by that time. Halibut and chips were good. Would give three stars if wait was better and chowder would have been a little hotter.

We have eaten at Bennett's in Grayland before, and decided to try this one. Today was outstanding! The crab cakes were awesome, and the cod filets were too! We met Ron, the manager, and he greeted us with a genuine, warm smile. We will definitely be back again!

Delicious food and great service!! My kids and I spent the weekend in Ocean Shores and wanted some burgers on our way out of town....yum!!! The burgers were really good and I loved the fries. Just a really great family restaurant. I've been here before (to the lounge) great service and drinks too.

  • Mike H.

Great burgers. Fresh ingredients and excellent bacon on the Bacon Burger. I got lucky and got a prime rib melt that was awesome. We stopped through on a Tuesday and no waiting at all. Prices were a bit steep, but in a small resort town that's to be expected.

  • Morgan M.

The space was open and spacious, the service was great . It's a pretty casual place, it's great for a large family or group of friends. The fish and chips was amazing and the clam strips as well. The cesear salad was not good. The texture of the dressing was dry and gritty. It was chunky on the lettuce. Overall the service was quick and you can stay as long as you wish. We had a drink from the bar and they were decent . A little expensive overall but the meal was awesome and worth it ! If you are in town there is little places to pick from but bennets is good and it's worth the time and money

First things first.... service was HORRIBLE. The owner got an attitude with me when she brought my burger out to me and I said I couldn't eat it because it had cheese on it. She told me "you should have told them when you placed your oder" well I made it very clear when I placed the order that I wanted no cheese. Then my friends fish was brought out without fries. They forgot about the fries.... we had to ask 3 different times for the fries. The food was not worth the 60 minute wait. Very dissapointed in the way I was treated. I will never go back.

  • Sai F.

Did not like the way they make you find your own table. It's fine when their not busy but they were busy. Felt uncomfortable asking people if they were done eating and hovering around a table so no one else would get it. Waited 52 minutes for our food. Granted it was an order for 7 but we had to ask the waitress if they didn't forget about our order. It had been 40 minutes of waiting and when my wife asked the waitress she gave an attitude. Come on people at least show some customer service and let us know our food is on its way and your sorry for the long wait. Last time I drop 84 dollars at Bennett's garbage shack. Oh my burger was chewy and dry because it was over cooked.

Very nice atmosphere. Good options on menu, although definitely Ocean Shores prices. Order up front kind of place, but still classy. Had some of the best clam strips ($13.99) I've ever had. The burgers were giant ($11+)! My husband got the prawns ($13.99), which were good, but was wished he'd got a burger after her saw them. Good kids menu with entrée, fries, applesauce and said for $6!

  • Kendra H.

First time eating here. We visit ocean shores every few years. Amazing food!! I got the battered prawns and they were outstanding. Others in my party got the halibut and chips, crab melt, and halibut sandwich. Delicious as well. Strawberry shortcake for dessert. Served with ice cream and the biscuit they use is super tasty. The only negative I have to say is the family of 3 was allowed to sit at the biggest table in the restaurant so our party of 8 had to sit somewhat separated rather than at the 8 - 10 person table occupied by 3. Will definitely be back when we make it back down to ocean shores!!

    (4)
  • Lori H.

Bennett's is pricy, so we don't go very often, but the food is really good! The fish is never oily and the food is all very fresh-tasting, with large portions...think leftovers! We have been to 3 locations (Westport, Grayland, and Ocean Shores) and they have all been good.

    (4)
  • Lana O.

I have so many favorites. Love the fish taco (which is big) love the chowder and the halibut and chips is great. If you just want a snack try one of the appetizers in the bar and your favorite glass of beer or wine. Love music too

Best seafood in Ocean Shores. My family and I eat at Bennett's almost every time we visit the beach. Fresh ingredients, homemade sauces and excellent service. The bar makes awsome fresh lime margaritas too!

  • Eric B.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!! Terrible service! Took over an hour for 2 orders of fish sticks. Drove 3 hours to spend the day at the beach and they wasted over an hour of our day, unbelievable. Then the cook, some heavy lady with tattoos all over her chest tries arguing with me through the window after telling me 4 times over the last 20 minutes that she was plating the food.. Yeah right. What a dump!

We were in Ocean Shores on a short getaway and needed somewhere to eat. We saw this place, I did a quick search, saw the amazing reviews, and it was decided. We walked in and ordered (it's one of those restaurants where you order first off of a big board rather than a menu). There was literally no one else in the restaurant (end of September... raining... not a lot of people in Ocean Shores) so service was pretty quick (maybe 10 minutes). We both got the cod and chips and then we got a third meal to share, which was prawns and chips. Everything was delicious, and even though the bill seemed high, we had lunch for the next day because the portions are huge. The decor was nice, very inviting, and next time I'm in Ocean Shores I'll be stopping by again.

My favorite place to eat in Ocean Shores! I got the combo with cod, clams, & fries and it was delicious. I especially like this sauce they supplied. It was almost like a tartar sauce but was different, I never found out what it was but it was delicious! Atmosphere is very nice but can get busy at times so if you want a quiet place not the best choice. Also, food was pretty expensive but seemed worth it for the taste & similar places around town.

Food was incredibly over priced. I paid $40 for 2 orders of fish and chips and it took them over 50 minutes to serve us. Definitely not coming back. What a waste of money and time.

Took 45 minutes to get most of our food, and we ordered what I would think are popular items: Fish (Cod), Clam strips and fry combo, and two chicken strip meals for the kids. The service was OK, nothing spectacular and the food was OK as well. The Clam strips were cooked in old oil and it definitely tasted like it. The Cod was alright as well; nothing spectacular. The kids meals and my fries showed up first, followed by the Fish and Clams about 5 minutes later. If I would have known how long it would take to get this meal, and a mediocre one at that, I would have taken my business elsewhere. They need to get a process in place where they have items ready to go and people get their meals in a much more reasonable amount of time. I can't imagine what it's like during their peak season where there are 10 times as many people. Won't be going back.

The food was great. I ordered the hand breaded halibut, clams, and fries combo. It was the wait time that makes me rate it as average. Waited 90 minutes from the time I ordered to receive my food.

Went last night for a birthday dinner. Dissapointing, to say the least. Walk up order counter with less than interested order taker. Loud all wood booths with 2 different children on either side of us kicking and kicking their feet on our benches made it even more dissapointing. The chowder was glue in a bowl with no taste whatever, giant pieces of potatoes and a glob of butter?) 2 kid's meals neither would eat.. ( cold chicken strips were brought out first..then fries) halibut and chips were overpriced at 18.99 for 2 box pieces with greasy fries..cost us $80+ for 5 of us.

PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: note how many reviews talk about the time between order and service. An hour is about right (and for what they serve we had to wonder why) Good food? Yes. Amazing food. NO! We shared a crab cocktail, which was good but totally drenched in cocktail sauce. I had the Best of the Best and it was okay. The chowder was the best but I had better in Des Moines earlier in the week. No doubt there were fresh clams in it but wasn't flavorful. She had the crab/cheddar melt (as did I) and while it was good with chunks of crab it didn't really taste more than a grilled cheese sandwich. It is on the upper end of $$. By the time you get enough to eat it is really a $$$ purchase. I think we will try somewhere else next time.

The food was pretty good. I personally ate the fish and chips with a bowl of chowder. The fish was good (plain without the aid of tarter sauce), and very filling portions. The chowder seemed off at first, but got better with each bite (if that makes any sense). We got a margarita from the bar. It was the weirdest way I'd ever see one prepared, but my wife said it tasted excellent. Overall a four. The prices were a bit high for the food and environment (hard to find seating, and after paying $80 for lunch, I'd like the assurance of getting a table).

Nice restaurant but this is NOT a seafood joint despite the name. The only fishy items they had on the menu were deep fried. No broiled fish. Nothing baked. Only 2 kinds of fish offered: cod or halibut. The halibut was decent but then, it is pretty difficult to screw up any dish that is deep fried. Bennett's Fish Shack seems to wow visitors with its hamburgers, poultry sandwiches and prime rib. Looking around the restaurant, I noticed hamburgers were the most popular item. I opted for the prime rib, which was surprisingly good. Super tender, well seasoned and flavorful, Bennett's prime rib rivals the best from Lawry's and other posh steakhouses. The baked potato and broccoli that accompanied this amazing hunk of beef were equally flavorful.

I would give them 5* if all they served was their crab cakes. We went in twice over a weekend and had a few different items: Crab cakes: 2 very crab heavy cakes (not a lot of filler which I loved) served over a salad with avocado and something similar to pico de gallo and a huge portion of fries. This was the best thing we had while in town. When we return, that's all I'm getting and I'm not sharing! Beer battered cod with fries. Huge portion and it was good. Crab and cheddar melt with fries. Not what I expected at all. I expected something like a tuna melt but it's was not like that at all. Again, not a lot of filler which was nice - it was crab with some celery and cheddar cheese. If you like crab, you'll like this although the crab cakes were still my favorite. Clam chowder - SUPER thick and good. The only disappointment was that we didn't see any Tabasco which is strange. For the kids meals, we tried the chicken fingers and the cheese quesadilla. My kid loves quesadillas but didn't really care for theirs - it was very bland and the tortilla was crunchy at the edges and soft every where else. One note, EVERYTHING comes with fries - from the kids meal to the crab cakes. It gets to be a bit much and I'll try substituting with something else next time.

I liked the decor of this restaurant, very cute design, order at the counter, then find a seat. They have a bar, where you pick up your alcohol drinks, and you can order from in there, and sit there. I had the "Best of the Best" Chowder- very good Grilled cheese crab sandwich- cold in the middle, and a bit on the bland side for me. Chicken salad- way too much cheese for me, I couldn't even eat it They have beers on tap, I had a good dark one. My friend had fried fish, clam strips, and fries, our order took 15 minutes. We went at 6pm on a Sunday night. I would go again, and try some other things, maybe see if I can get that salad, minus the cheese ;)

Basic fried food. Great for the location and options. Every one walked away pleased. Service was so much better than Seattle and they aren't complaining about $15 minimums... Great value for price.

Bennett's was recommended to us by a local shop owner, it was amazingly delicious! The fried shrimp was really fresh, amazing taste. The clam chowder was very tasty and chunky (I voted for it to be number one in the festival) the only thing that was kinda weird is the staff didn't seem very lively, so it was kind of a blah experience compared to the other people we have met in this very nice town.

Soooooooo good. The restaurant seemed new and clean and just perfect. I had a fish n chips and found myself in heaven. I meant to go back to try fish tacos, but ran out of time. If I ever go back to Ocean Shores (most likely not) I would like to go back!

My significant other and I have been here before when they first opened. But we thought they food was okay but it wasn't worth the money. We came back because a lot of locals had high praises about the place. So we tried it again, but in the bar - if there was a way to rate zero I would. Why? Because of the service. We walked in the bar and sat down. The bartender came over to us after greeting the ladies sitting two tables down from us. I had pulled out my ID (because people always card me), anticipating his request to see my card. When he walked over, he didn't say even say hi. He just gave us the menus and walked away (that was the 1st warning in my head). He came back to ask for our order of drinks and took them. Then he came back with our drinks and took our order of food. We ordered 2 clam chowders, the crab melt and crab cakes. After that, didn't see him. We waited for 15-17 minutes the food. That was fine. But what really ticked me off was, he didn't ask if we needed anything else. Mind you. Earlier, when the girls two tables from us had gotten their food before us, he had asked them what they wanted and he actually walked over to the condiments counter and got them hot sauce, ketchup. Now, I can get it myself but the fact that he didn't ask if there was anything else we needed, it's a big disappointment. It wasn't just them. Another older couple had walked in and sat in the other table and they had the service that deserved even a 2-star would do. I'm not complaining about the food. The chowder was great. They deserve that award winning chowder but when a server or bartender has an attitude that I can smell a mile away was a put off. If a server is selective on their customers, that's a complete disappointment for such a place. The bartender with the bowtie needs a lesson on customer service. I'm not going to say his name for privacy. But he really needs to know how to treat his customers equally, no matter the age. Had he done a great job, he would deserve a better praise.

Try the fish tacos! Well, they're more shaped like burritos but they taste AMAZING. I tried to study how they did it; it was a toasted spinach tortilla with a melted cheese lining on top. Then they added lettuce, cilantro, pico de gallo, yogurt (?) sauce, and the fried cod. It may be $12 but it was easily big enough to be saved as an extra meal. It was so tasty I had to give an extra tip to the kitchen. Also, plenty of parking, and super friendly staff. You might miss the first left turn when coming into Ocean Shores but don't worry, take the turnaround at the end then try again.

All the food we had was really good, but nothing was spectacular. Obviously fresh ingredients, the fryers are kept clean, and they know how to cook their menu. Interior was clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating, no complaints there. Now the bad part, the wait for food. It was not exceptionally busy, a few open tables, but not a line out the door or anything. After ordering it took AN HOUR to get our 2 plates. What chaps my ass the most is they are fully aware of their reputation for extraordinary slow service and do nothing to appease the hungry customers. Make the chowder self serve, bread sticks, oysters crackers, seriously anything! So many simple solutions but they don't care enough to do something. It's a shame to see a restaurant with so much going for it, act in such an arrogant fashion. If I'm going to wait that long for fried food it better be the best I've ever had and this place was just better than average.

Read the Yelp reviews, stopped here on a Tuesday afternoon - 4pm - for an early dinner. Cashier at the front was friendly, we ordered two fish & Chips (halibut) and two large bowls of clam chowder. Restaurant was hardly filled at the time. Order time to food delivery was 15 minutes - and yes - I timed it because I had read all the reviews saying they waited a ridiculously long time. While we waited I had asked a couple of ladies sitting nearby (the restaurant was pretty quiet at this time) if they waited long for their food. They told me today they didnt, they had the day before, but the food was definitely worth it. Food was definitely worth the 15 minute wait (ha!). Fish was piping hot and crispy as were the fries. Servings are fair for the price ($16.99 gets you two large square pieces of halibut and a healthy serving of fries). This was excellent!! Kids snarfed it up as well. Chowder was meh-- I got it for the kids and they kept saying it tasted like chicken noodle soup. Whaaaaat?? So I finally tried it and yep - I get what they were saying. While the chowder was thick and loaded with clams, it also had a definite chicken stock flavor. Also, the chowder was presented to us with a little sprinkling of parsley, paprika, and a large glob of melted butter. Gag. I know there's a lot of butter in there but I don't wanna see it. Overall, I'd eat there again but would avoid the chowder. Living on the West Coast I've definitely had better. By the time we left the outdoor seating was full and it seemed they were in dinner mode - still, I was seeing people getting food relatively quickly. And what's up with the eensy weensy stall in the ladies bathroom? You can hardly latch the door without your knees banging into it when you sit on the john. wtf.

I stopped off at Bennett's Fish Shack in Ocean Shores on Sunday 7-13-14 for lunch. The place was crowded. (normal for a weekend mid day during the summer) I ordered the Cod Fish and Chips with fries. It was cooked excellent. The location is terrific and the place is a decent sized restaurant, in comparison to their location in Westport. The service was very slow.....it took 45 minutes from order to getting served. The waitress and bar manager only checked on us once during this 45 minutes. I do recommend Bennett's. See if you can go during a weekday or not during the summer months and I'm sure the service will be better.

We had the cod & chips and the halibut & chips; delicious. You place your order and pay first (including tip) at the front and seat yourself after you pick up your drinks at the bar. The food was great but if I'd tipped after the meal it would've been 80% LESS than what I paid upfront because the service was terrible. Don't try to buy a shirt. I paid for the shirt up front with the meal. They couldn't find one and so we went and sat down to eat and pick it up after. We finished our meal, went to the front, waited for the shirt, was told the management was busy on the phone and we'd have to wait; after waiting before we sat, ate, and waited again for ten minutes. I was just grateful that they didn't argue when I gave up and asked for my money back instead of the shirt that was never located. Food was great. The staff don't seem to give a...

My boys and I ate here for dinner one evening. Mindful of other reviews about slow service we came for an early dinner around 4:30. After ordering we sat and it took about 20 minutes to get us our food. It was filling up by the time we left so I can imagine how long it will take when the place is full. I ordered a cup of chowder to go with my meal and it would have been nice to have that brought out prior to the rest of my meal instead of all at once. It was good chowder but I certainly wouldn't say it was the best ever. My boys loved their burgers and fries. I had the crab cakes and they were very good. Big chunks of crab, red pepper and onion. Perfectly fried, not overcooked at all. There was a big scoop of pico de gallo and some avacado slices which seemed slightly out of place on the plate but still tasted good. Overall it is worth the visit and we will go back. I really want to try some other items.

Stopped by on a Monday evening. Dropped $45 in a clam chowder, kids fish and chips, and a clam/fish combo. Took 45 minutes to get the food. Chowder was good. Fish OK. Clam strips burnt and not edible. Will likely not return.

I loved this place!!!! At first when we walked in it was kind of crazy... It was a restaurant but with a huge line for food. So you got in line and ordered food then went and found a seat. I hated that idea.. Too much craziness. BUT I ended up finding a table in the bar section and was pleasantly surprised by the awesome service in the bar area. Greeted by Gary and he was so considerate and awesome! My friend wasn't sure what beer he wanted and Gary brought out a few to sample beforehand.. This has never occurred at any place I've eaten at.. My friend and I actually split the tab so we could both tip our awesome waiter! I'll be back!!

Food is so great, had the friday night special: prime pepper crusted rib! Divine! Also shared some fish and chips with my friend, had some oyster shooters, and a freezing cold beer on tap. We sat on the bar and the service provided by the bartender was exceptional. This is a place to remember.

Food was okay, service was awful. Someone let us know that their food had large portions, we were misinformed. My suggestion is you don't share if you're hungry. Bartenders we're good, and they know how to make Bloody Marys.

The bright spot here is the Dungeness crab melt. It was crackly and perfectly seasoned - you can still enjoy the sweetness of the crab meat without the stench of the sand. The cheddar wasn't melty enough for it to really live up to the name. My disappointment is with the 1-hour cheese burger. Sure, it was hot and juicy. It came down to the painfully long wait for untoasted buns and average sauce. The side items didn't help much, either. Clam chowder was too bland, cranberry salad much too vinegary, and fries were just fries. Wait is not a factor if you don't come in starving. Money is not a factor if you're a tourist ready to splurge. Bad service is not a factor, because the ladies at the counter were very nice.

The fish and chips were fantastic. Really pricey though. Have had just as good for about half the price at several other beach spots. The place wasn't busy so no problem with the wait. Outdoor seating with propane heaters is a nice touch.

I'm really not a fish lover but was visiting family and they insisted we go here. I reluctantly agreed. We had fish and chips(cod). It was fantastic. The best I have ever had. I would travel back up from my home in Texas for another meal here. You can't go wrong.

I'm so confused by people saying these are the best fish tacos. There was no flavor to any part of this "taco". It's more of a wrap, it's mostly lettuce that has been over saturated with a flavorless dressing and overly ripe avocado. Much too squishy, much too bland, not much fish. All for 12 bucks.

We stop in here every month when we are in town. The service has always been hit & miss. Last night was the worst service I have ever seen anywhere. We made the mistake of ordering at the counter as there was no seating in the bar. Then two seats opened up. The bartender would not give us the time of day because had to order food at the counter instead of from him. This place has some serious service issues & we have seen it to many times. Done with this place.

Decided to swing in for an early dinner. Had the dungeness crab melt and chowder. It was good, but would have been better had the food been hotter than lukewarm. On the plus side, ordered a drink from the bar and it packed a punch. Lol! I liked it well enough to try again.

Love the chowder. It's on the expensive side but delicious... Sourdough bread bowl was more bread than soup but still the best around if your looking for delicious food. It is counter service so you order then sit down to wait for it. Bartenders and servers are nice but don't bother with the margaritas- not good. Overall still the best place I've been to in Ocean Shores.

After reading the reviews we were very excited to visit for dinner. We ordered the Best sampler with Clam Chowder, cranberry salad and crab melt. The chowder and crab melt were cold and the salad salty. My partner ordered fish n chips and we shared the crab cakes. There was a weird smell to the oil the fish were fried in. The crab cakes were good as was the cocktail sauce. The server was friendly but very busy with long lines waiting to order food.

Waited 1:10 for my food, my girlfriends took another 5 minutes beyond that. Reviews said there were lengthy wait times but I thought that was a bit much especially for the quality of the food. I got the Crab Caesar salad, a dish that should realistically be assembled within ten minutes. It was honestly not worth the cost or the wait. Girlfriend ordered the "Best of the Best", clam chowder, crab cheddar melt and cranberry coast salad. The reviews of the chowder are accurate as it was bland and had a chicken stock taste to it. On the patty melt the crab was cold and not particularly great. The salad was very average, had a sesame dressing with grilled chicken, like something you would get at Applebee's. Ordered an iced tea and had to let them know that the dispenser was empty, they did get it refilled fairly quickly which is one positive. Overall a less than positive dining experience. Slow, unapologetic service and very overpriced. Can't recommend it.

The Crab & Cheddar Melt was pretty good. Tons of fresh crabmeat and the seasoning had great complexity. Though the crabmeat in the sandwich was just lukewarm. Great selection of tap beers. Service in the bar after couple of visits was a hit-and-miss. The dinning area and washroom were both very clean. It was a little pricy but worth a try. Glad that I dropped by.

After checking out reviews on Yelp, my husband and I decided to try Bennett's for lunch yesterday. We saw that the parking lot was full, but decided to go in, anyway, and I'm glad that we did. When we walked in, we weren't sure what to do, but we saw someone else ordering and figured it out. The young man at the till took our order (I didn't see his name, but he was great- taking orders, bussing tables, running food, getting things for customers... he was all over the place and had a great attitude) and the total was CRAZY high for lunch. $35 for a crab cake basket, a burger basket, and two sodas. If we weren't so hungry, we wouldn't have eaten there after seeing the prices on the menu board, but they tempted us with the delicious food going out and so we stayed to order. We decided to eat on the patio, but changed our minds because the wind was too cold despite their heaters. I wanted some tartar sauce for my fries, but they didn't have any out on their condiment bar, which seemed strange for a seafood place. I asked the girl behind the counter if they had any, and she said it came with cod or halibut but not crab cakes or anything else. She was very nice about giving me some cups of it. They were huge! I definitely overestimated the amount I would need. The tartar sauce was thick and had a good, tart flavor. When our food arrived, we were really happy with it. My husband's crab cakes came with pico de gallo, avocado, and some lettuce/cabbage mixture, and of course fries. He said the cakes were crisp, tender, and flavorful. They did appear to be packed full of crab and not a lot of "filler." My burger was really delicious and literally dripping with melted cheese on a yummy grilled kaiser roll. The meat had good flavor and was really juicy. Fries were crispy and very fresh. Overall, despite the extremely high cost, we enjoyed Bennett's and would possibly come back for dinner, but not lunch.

We had the Best of The Best combo for lunch - the $43 we spent on lunch and sodas for 2 was well worth it! Highly recommend the Dungeness Crab and Cheddar melt sandwich - chowder was very good; the clams were tender and very tasty. The Cranberry Coast Chicken Salad was very good also, though next time I would order the sandwich by itself (the combo comes with 1/2 sandwich) because it was my favorite of the 3 items. I see that there are complaints about the wait - we were there at a very busy time, but didn't mind the 20 minute wait for our food once we ordered - we dined outside and it was a lovely sunny day - the outdoor flame heaters were a fun perk - would make it pleasant even on a cool day. We loved it and will eat there anytime we are in Grays Harbor!

I am a very value conscious diner. That does not mean that I look for the lowest price but when I saw a $14.99 price on the cod and clam combo I was dubious. Especially since this was priced $$$ with no table service. We were also nervous when it took about 15 minutes to get our order. It was well worth the wait. The wife and I each ordered the cod and clam combo and when it came, it was ridiculously oversized. Two mammoth planks of cod breaded in house and fried perfectly. The clam strips easily matched the scale of the fish. I never even know clams came this big! Again, house breaded, perfectly fried, and the taste was beautifully fresh and sweet. The fries were not house cut which is always a pet peeve of mine but the were still good. The minor beef here is that the portion was not to scale with the rest of the plate. That's probably a good thing because we could not have finished otherwise. My son ordered the clam chowder in the sourdough bread bowl. It was almost a full artisan loaf of bread (made in house) carved out and filled with a fantastic creamy clam chowder. They used the same behemoth clams in the chowder that they used for the combo plate. It was topped with fresh herbs and butter and almost too pretty to eat. Again, this was nearly too much food here to eat. This place is a gem. It is a must eat! Dare I say that this is the best fish and chips I have EVER eaten and I may move to Ocean Shores so that I can eat here three times a week. The $60 price tag on our meal was worth every penny. Good portion size, good value, GREAT quality food. This gets my highest recommendation!!

We were in town for a huge car meet and I have to say Bennett's hospitality towards us was top notch. They put on a nice breakfast for us and just went above and beyond. We came back for lunch with 2 of our friends. I had the Cesar salad and the husband had fish and chips. My salad was really good but overloaded with Parmesan cheese. Like half the bowl was cheese. Husband's fish and chips were awesome. My friend got the fish tacos and they were HUGE. More like a fish wrap. We also got the hand dipped ice cream, Also huge and very good. They were super packed but the owner came over and said they were backed up and gave us some Fry's to tide us over until the food came. Very nice.

After walking from our hotel to the restaurant in the rain (which we did not mind,) we walked into the place and the line was pretty long with only one cashier. After hearing the woman behind us say she paid $16 for a small drink at the bar, I was a little worried. The staff was very friendly and great. We sat outside on the patio (even though it was raining) and we actually had a great table - on both sides we had heat lamps. I ordered the shrimp cocktail... it was not what I was expecting. I ate maybe a fourth of it and that's being generous. My partner ordered the Dungeness crab and cheddar melt. The bread was hot but the inside was cold. If that's normal, then disregard. What made this experience unpleasant? The people who came out onto the patio and stared us down during our entire dinner! Every time I looked to the left (the direction my chair was facing) I had a woman staring me down and complaining about sitting in the cold and how the lamps looked warm. Sorry we arrived 15 minutes earlier than you! Overall, we paid roughly $37 for two sub par meals and two beers. Went to the Pirates Cove Pub down the street and had an appetizer and 8 beers between my partner and I and paid $37 before tip. 8/10 would not go to again.

We were in a couple weeks ago, and the food was perfect as usual. The service was excellent, and I'm giving them an extra star because they were totally cool with us bringing our well-behaved dog onto the outside patio. I love them.

Wow, this place hit it out of the park when you step out of your vehicle you are "hooked"! Ocean breezes, cooking fish smells....we loved the atmosphere and friendly crowds, games on the boob tubes....oh my goodness this place had a lot of sea charm! Self-service for ordering was a little awkward...but we made it through the process, the next big surprise was the high price, but oh boy! That fried fish was WELL worth the price! I would have preferred to see a little bit more of it because I actually left there still a little hungry which is not normal for me! yummy fries and the drink...oh well, it was a soda, what can you say?

Southwest burger was unbelievable! I will drive back from Seattle just to get it again!

Food was spot on and lived up to expectations. Had the Crab Cakes and Halibut combo... Delish! Pretty pricey meal so took off half a star. After the food arrived I was told that they were sold out of applesauce for the kids meal but they offered no replacement or discount. Not a fan of paying for something that I don't get ... minus another half star.

My boyfriend and I found refuge here during lots of wind and rain the other day. The girl who was working the counter was doing something else when we came in. She casually sauntered over while we were waiting to order. She seemed irritated to have to help someone. Not rude though. Just not very polite. We both got Dungeness crab and cheddar sandwiches with french fries. He got soda and I got coffee. My coffee wasn't particularly warm. Whatever. I was just happy to have something lukewarm in my hands because outside it was wet and cold. The girl that brought our food was friendly enough. As we ate, I noticed that there was one particular kid working who looked like he was running around, working his ass off. (It got kind of busy after we sat down.) Then there were two girls working (the one who took our order and another one) who seemed to not notice that it had gotten busy. They weren't being particularly slow...they just didn't seem to notice that there was a line and a bunch of people waiting for food. The sandwiches were good, but not great. When the food got to us, it was kind of cold. (At least, not warm.) When my boyfriend asked for a box or something to take our food to go in, the girl he asked seemed bothered to have to do something. She brought it to us pretty quickly (and in her defense, she was serving other people when he asked, so maybe he caught her at a bad time, but still...). Overall, it was not bad. We ended up spending about 40 bucks, which I didn't think it was worth. But it seemed wonderful in comparison to our dinner that night. (Read my review on North Shore Grill.) Dungeness Crab Sandwich with fries - 13.99 Coffee and soda were each around 2.50.

Not bad. Not a great place for a large party. We were 10 and it was difficult to have to stand in line to order. Also hard as we didn't get our food at the same time and it was awkward. Food was decent but as I said not neat place for our gaggle

  • Brittany G.

You seat yourself. You go up to the counter, order your food and hope for a table that'll sit your group. Which would be nice if you were trying to get in and out... but after waiting for our food for over an hour it didn't really matter. I got the burger and my Aunt had the fish and chips. The burger wasn't anything special, probably something I could have had at Red Robin. My Aunt said the fish and chips tasted like honestly nothing, even after adding salt. I wouldn't go back. I definitely don't recommend it.

What they call fish tacos are actually wraps. And they are awesome. The clam chowder and crab melt are also good. We had the cranberry salad as well, which was good, but had chicken instead of fish. Only food I wasn't a big fan of was their fries. Not bad, but nothing to write home about. Service was fast and friendly. Will return with friends the next time I'm at Ocean Shores.

Pretty confused about how this place has such incredible reviews...there are little gnats flying around EVERYWHERE. Ordered the chowder following my fellow Yelp-ers advice... It was good, but not very warm and had enormous chunks of celery in it. Like...I had to cut one in half. Silverware is in buckets on the table - no spoons so I asked an employee cleaning tables. He said 'it's on your table.' I indicated that there weren't any spoons? He instructed me to ask at the order counter for one. So I waited in line, to request a spoon, while my clam chowder got even cooler...other staff was pleasant and more accommodating, but I did not have the 5 star experience it seems others did...if I come again I'll sit in the full service bar area I think.

Delicious! We went here for lunch today and it was great! I had the halibut fish and chips. The halibut was definitely near the top of the best fried fish I've ever had. The only better might be in Australia. Highly recommend you get the halibut if you go! My husband had the applewood bacon burger and he loved it! The fries were great too. Overall I mean just fantastic food, place was really well decorated as well. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area!

Another trip to the coast brought us back to Bennett's. My husband and I ordered the Crab melt and the halibut/clam strip combo. The halibut was delicious. Fried perfectly. Nice portions. The crab melt was cold in the middle.....which was off-putting to me. It was a little on the bland side as well. The bread was cooked nicely though. The clams were spot on though. I absolutely love Bennett's fried clams.

All the food is fresh! The best deal is the cheeseburger! It was tasty and a good portion. But, the fries were a bit salty!" The halibut fish and chips were excellent!

Good place. Service was quick and attentive, food was above average (especially for a tourist town) and they had sixteen beers on tap!

Struggled with where to go for fish and chips in OS since there are a few and all have good and bad comments. Elected to come here, the wait was long, the staff seemed a little disorganized but it did start to get busy since it was lunch time on a beautiful September Saturday afternoon. The wait was worth it. Had the combo with cod and clam strips. Meaty portions of cod lightly battered and the clam strips were meaty as well. I'd go back and spend the $14 again. Oh, and I may just try a burger, they're HUGE!

All I can say is, read the reviews BEFORE you go. Too noisy, crowded and the food just not good. They really get your mouth watering with the descriptions and then let you down when it's delivered. I liked it much better before when it was a simple bar & grill. Don't bother to waste your money.

Just gonna preface this with you are gonna get screwed a bit in a tourist beach town. That being said I've never felt the need to post a review on yelp until now. We sat in the bar and got a bartender that would probably be best suited in a lower Manhattan dive bar. He was rude but also attentive in a weird way. I felt like a jerk just trying to order a drink from him. The food generally sucked and was overpriced. My girlfriend had a set of tacos with cheese on it that can only be described as undescriptive and tasteless. I had the bacon burger. Besides decorating it with large slices of raw onions and lettuce there was nothing notable about it either. Our scenery was watching one of their employees wander around and pick his nose and use a traffic cone as a bull horn to yell into the restaurant. I'm not making this up. They had people pull him inside to get him to stop. To be honest witnessing that was the best part of eating there. Long story short we left most our food and drinks unfinished and felt ripped off. Come to Ocean Shores for the beach and stay at a place you can cook for yourself.

Good food, liked the lay out. My husband loves the oysters, I like their fish and chips the best but everything was yummy. Burgers are huge! But make sure you bring money they are a little pricey. They also offer military discounts daily.

Best local place to eat! I haven't had anything here I don't like, but the coastal cranberry salad is my favorite! A little spendy so we usually leave the kids at home, but is definitely family friendly also!

I visited Bennett's during the summer of 2013 and was slightly disappointed. The halibut and chips featured a crispy batter, while the cod featured a traditional beer batter. I'm not sure why Bennett's chooses to use a superior breading on the cod. My halibut was cooked well, but was texturally a mess because of the crispy batter. Crispy batter is for chicken tenders and Ivar's platters, not a beautiful halibut filet. I feel that I didn't get enough fish for the cost of the dinner and the fries were sparse but delicious. My partner selected a shrimp cocktail that was - in my opinion - average. Her sister ordered clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. The chowder order was generous yet a bit too thick. The sourdough bowl was delicious and definitely the highlight of the dish. The staff was courteous and nominally knowledgeable of gluten-free items on the menu. Overall, better choices exist for traditional "fried seafood and fries" in Ocean Shores. Bennett's reputation is dramatically inflated due to their far superior restaurant just outside of Grayland, WA on the south side of Grays Harbor. This is - indeed - a fish shack.

Fast service; friendly staff; delicious food. We came in late, and they whipped up our food fast and hot. There were a lot of choices on the menu--something for everyone. The kids had cheeseburgers: one had kid-menu size, which was big enough with lots of fries, the other had the full-size burger. It was huge, covered with cheese, and succulent! Top-notch, IMHO. I had the battered cod. Just slightly over-browned, maybe, but perfect inside, and not greasy. Fries were excellent, crisp and flavorful. Tartar sauce was outstanding, with a hint of garlic. Cocktail sauce tasted like Heinz--nothing special. There was a sports bar area, but we sat in the general seating and the TV noise didn't bother us.

We went to Bennett's yesterday before we headed home from a great weekend, I was really looking forward to trying this place and was the only place we ate out in on our long weekend. We sat in the bar and the waitress was great, she was very attentive and friendly, I 1/2 crab sandwich and cup of chowder, it was OK, nothing really special, but given I was in San Francisco last month it does take alot to empress me on those 2 things, he had the cod fish and chips, I tried it and think it was pretty good, not greasy. But given the price I think it could have been alot better it was 56.00 we also had 2 beers each but still, pretty spendy for the quality. Service was great tho

Best fish taco! Excellent clam chowder. Will be back next time in Ocean Shores. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, the service was slow. They were busy, I understand.

  • Joe D.

Had dinner and lunch here due to the Yelp reviews, and others getting lower. We had the Cod and clams at lunch. Clams were great. The cod was ok. I'm not a fan generally of battered cod due to being greasy. This was on the edge of that. We returned for dinner and had the halibut. This was breaded and great. I saw a review just a couple days ago which said the fish was small. Ours were huge. We were stuffed. Cool little place. The manager I am assuming was just working at a super fast pace. He was doing a awesome job. I wish every restaurant had that kind of energy.

What an AWESOME lunch. I had never been to Ocean Shores before and the Sunday we were there Bennett's was quite busy for lunch. We decided to wait and it was SO WORTH IT. I had the Halibut + clams + fries and it was the BEST I've had ...EVER. My wife had the clam chowder and on a scale of 1-10 she gave it a 9. (If it had bacon in it she'd have given it a 10) We can't wait to get back to the ocean and we will definitely return to Bennett's! We intend to try the bacon hamburger next time.

  • Sherri M.

The best fish and chips at the beach. The claim chowder is full of clams. Price s are very good. If you don't want to have fish the burgers and salads are really yummy also. Hottest place at Ocean Shores.

  • Smalls M.

I should have read the reviews below... the customer servive was the worst I have ever had. The teenage girl at the front counter didn't even ask us what we wanted. She just stood there looking around and then when she finally took our order she threw the recipe at us! We should have left at that moment. There was only two of us and we sat there for over 50mins for our food. One of the workers there said our food was coming and yet three parties that came in after us got there food first. Basically this place has horrible costumer service, you won't get your food on time, and the halibut fish and chips are not fresh!!! Find another place.

  • C S.

After several visits, I'm close to being a fan. That's a challenge in Ocean Shores. The beach is definitely a different place. I've ordered the cheeseburger and it's hot along with the fries. The prices are on the high side, and in the off-season they do offer some lunch specials. There is also a bar special, but it doesn't start until 4 pm and I come in for lunch. A noticeable improvement is with Danica, the manager. You order at the counter, but the food is brought to you. They are now checking with you about your order. A dining companion looks for gluten-free options which they offer, including the chowder. I will be returning and recommending.

  • Kirsten S.

We waited 30 minutes for our food, which we ordered to go. We ordered a meal of the cod and chips, clam strips and fries, a large clam chowder and a shrimp caesar salad. The food was okay, but the batter the fish and clams were fried in tasted old and the food was not worth the 30 minute wait. Might give another chance next time in town, but not sure if I would recommend.

    (2)
  • Steve C.

A 2 star place but I will give them 3 because they are in a dumpy tourist trap town. Worst clam chowder in memory...cold, lacks clams, lacks any flavor.... a thick gooey (starchy) mess On a busy windy coldish day 3 of 4 heaters on the patio were not working, appear to be broken. Frys are good quality frozen but mine were served cold, perhaps the 30 minute wait to get my food had something to do with it Cold beer was appreciated however $5 for a 14 oz draft starts to make me think of ballpark pricing. Fried oysters were perfectly cooked, breaded very well, and were fresh. However they had not a lick of flavor. Fried clams were very good Tarter sauce and cocktail sauce are fantastic, which makes me think that these are old recipes from this establishment, and that they used to serve very good food. At this price point I need to get slaw and hush puppies, even in a tourist trap town. This place does not even try to provide service, which has a lot to do with why it takes them so long to prepare simple food.

The wife and me had the crab cakes and they was as good as it gets! I can always tell when the wife enjoys her food cuz she gets to gruntin just a bit. Them crab cakes had her gruntin near as much as our wedding night back in 1971! And the fries! Goodness, they was good enough to make Ranald McDonald hang his head in shame for sure. I like the people in the place to! Not a single Obamna lovin America hater anywhere to be seen. Mine and the Wifes' kind of place for sure!

Sat in the bar and was entertained by the bartenders and ate truly great seafood. The crab melt and fries were awesome as was the fish and chips. Cocktails weren't inventive but certainly respectable. Will go back when I next come down this way.

  • Karin S.

VERY good food. Probably the best halibut and chips I've ever had. But, service is pretty slow and the food doesn't come out in any particular order. Took 50 minutes to get one fish and chips meal, and we'd polished that off before the chowders showed up. Maybe we'll call ahead for takeout next time and then just sit down and eat?

  • Ellen P.

No healthy food choices at all. When i ordered a chicken sandwich and asked to replace a bun with some other bread, they said they had no other choices. Although people at the table next to me had toasted bread. Obviously they could have given me at least that bread instead of a hamburger bun! They brought me "the food": it was not a chicken sandwich but a deep fried chicken burger instead. Completely disgusting! i returned the meal untouched to the manager saying i can not eat chicken in bread crumbs and they refused to take it off my check!!! I would never go there again. All food is overpriced and extremely junk

Had an interesting atmosphere combo of pub/tavern and cafeteria style dining. We placed our order at the front and sat out on the patio near heat lamps. The clam strips were amazing!! And the clam chowder was thick, creamy, and was filled with clam bites. The bartender took more than a few minutes to get to us but he poured with a very heavy hand. Nice place overall, especially in a small town with few options. They keep it very clean and the layout is easy and friendly. I can only imagine how fun it is in the summer! Get the clam strips!

Perfect quick lunch spot for the visiting tourist. Walked off a charter fishing trip super hungry and this place was right next to the pier! It was busy but the fast good style service helped speed things up. I got the clam strips and my husband got the Dungeness crab melt. Both big portions and really good. I did need to ask for lemons. The counter and kitchen seemed really clean! Glad we stopped here and we will probably visit again next time!

Wonderful food! We stopped here for dinner based on the recommendation of our hotel. We had the crab salad and the crab sandwich and were not disappointed. The owner was very friendly and the staff was wonderful too. It was packed on a Wednesday night -

I have been to this place many times. And usually am very satisfied. We went yesterday and were very disappointed. We always get the crab cakes because they were full of crab and delicious. This time they were extremely salty and doughy hardly any crab. We decided to try the fish and chips for the first time. We got the halibut and chips. There was so little fish and so much breading we couldn't tell if it was actually halibut. It was very soggy andgreasy it was disgusting. This is especially unfortunate since I paid about $40 for crab cakes and fish and chips. It's really too bad. They used to be a good part of a day trip to the coast. We won't be going back.

I rolled into town to spend the night for work, and all I wanted was to find a place with beer and decent food before I called it a night. I was pleasantly suprised about the quality of this joint in an otherwise depressed oceanside town. I order a beer (it's the only place I've ever been with Corona on tap) and the fish taco. The beer was exactly what I was after, and the food was generous and delicious. The fish "taco" ended up being a fish "burrito", but who cares -- it's the same thing (in fact it made it easier to eat...). The girl sitting next to me ordered the same thing after seeing how good it looked. The bartender was personable and attentive, the cantina was nice, and the food/drinks were tasty. After food and a few beers I got out of there for $25 with tip. Really reasonable.

  • Jay S.

Outstanding! Yes, we waited for 45 minutes for our order to arrive after ordering, but it was busy and well worth the wait. Great fish and chips, clam strips the best I've had west of Cape Cod (seriously), awesome beer choices in the bar. Great atmosphere. Tip: Go straight to the bar and have them order the food from there. Saves time over standing inline and ordering from the front counter. Lots of locals and family groups, just be prepared to be patient. Bow tie guy not there, Bartender Eric did a great job of taking care of us. Would not come to Ocean Shores and NOT go there for dinner.

Price is a little spendy but what we got was some of the best halibut fish and chips and best clam chowder we have had. And also the portions were big. Service was fast and the food was great. If you get the chance stop in.

We go to Ocean Shores often as we own vacation property here. We've never gone to Bennett's Fish Shack so we thought we'd give it a try. It was quite busy but we quickly found a seat in the bar. Took about 15 minutes for anyone to get our drinks or bring a menu.... We ordered drinks and the Fish & Chips (Cod). quite expensive for Fish & Chips but I figured they must be pretty special. We sat waiting for another hour without any food or any service. We were getting ready to leave and go to McDonalds (my wife actually put her jacket on) when the Waiter saw us ready to leave and finally came by and apologized saying the kitchen was very backed up because of a call in order... We waited another 15 minutes or so when our orders finally arrived. 2 relatively small pieces of fish (appeared over cooked) on a bed of fries. Nothing special and for $12 you'd think they would be something special... They weren't. Tasted very greasy (and burnt). The table next to us too was waiting for ever too. I was very disappointed with this service and food. I will never go again, and recommend if you are in Ocean Shores, and hungry for some fish, don't go here as there are several other better choices.

  • Ernesto C.

Order up front and then grab a seat. Ordered the fish tacos and they showed and surprised me when they were a wrap. Fish was really well cooked, nice pico de gallo, and nice avocado. Really fresh tasting and I was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately, they thought it was a good idea to melt cheese to the tortilla. If it wasn't for the cheese this would have been really good. I broke the whole thing open and ate what I wanted and still enjoyed it. Served with fries. Didn't touch the fries. A little pricey for what you get but hey it is Ocean Shore.

    (3)
  • Geneva H.

It's ok. The food was alright, but a little too pricey for what it was. The clam chowder, and cranberry salad were good as was the halibut combo. The crab melt was a little lame and left something to be desired. The atmosphere was good, cute (it sort of reminds me of The Ram). 2 stars versus 3 stars- price for what you get. I will say the place was packed and service was acceptable but that's about it.

Don't come here when you're hungry. Ridiculous long wait. We ordered a bacon burger, halibut sandwich, and a bloody mary. The girl said it would be delivered to our table. After 30 mins and still no sign of food or my drink. I decided to check on my drink and the girl said I are suppose to pick it up in the lounge....Well why didn't you tell me that in the beginning???? After 20 more mins....still no sign of food (total 50 mins since we ordered). I went up again to ask, note there were others who also have the same problem waiting for their foods too. Finally after close to an hour wait we finally got our food. Food was nothing special and wait staff was rude. Will not come back

My family and friends love going to Bennett's for lunch or dinner when it's not crowded and I frequently order food from them to take out to the beach to watch the waves and storms roll in while I sit in my nice, dry, warm truck. The ups: The deep fried cod or halibut and chips are both excellent. The Cranberry Coast Salad is YUMMY, all caps, as is the Caesar Salad (the dressing tastes like it is made fresh there at the restaurant and is the best I've ever tasted). Their bacon cheeseburger is excellent enough to make my mouth water and my stomach growl in anticipation just at the thought of it. The fries they serve are seasoned and so good they don't need anything extra, but they're great dipped in the cocktail sauce (which is wonderfully spiked with horseradish). They also have unseasoned, unsalted fries if you don't care for seasoned fries, but it may take a bit longer to get them. Both their tartar sauce and cocktail sauce appear to be made on the premises, but if not, they are outstanding anyway. The downs: They have a bad habit of not informing their counter personnel when things are running low so that they can inform customers that the wait for certain things will be extra, EXTRA long or that they need to make a substitution in the order. The clam strips can be either truly excellent or dry and rubbery, depending on what their supplier brings in. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have the policy of holding their supplier to a high standard and sending back sub-par product, so you roll your dice and take your chances with the clam strips. If you get ones that are dry and rubbery, speak with the manager and get them to give you something else (Bennett's customer service is pretty good that way). The seating is terrible, with plywood benches for the booths. Sorry, hard plywood benches and achy old bones just don't go well together (or you could just say they're un-mixy things if you're an old geek like me). All in all, however, I would highly recommend Bennett's but suggest you go when the place is not packed wall to wall with people. You can't expect great, fast service when there are literally more people and orders than they can handle. Just have a look at the parking situation: if there are a couple of spots open on either side, you should be good to go. If there is not a parking space to be had on either side and the lots for other shops have a fair number of cars parked there as well, check inside to see if all of the people are in Bennett's. If they are, give it a pass unless you're willing to wait. And I mean wait for a good, long while.

My husband and I both ordered our own crab cakes because apparently they are prize winning & famous. So... They were really good. One of my crab cakes literally had a huge leg of un-shredded crab in it so I knew it was fresh! Definitely not canned stuff here. We ate in the bar for service (and drinks) and the bartender was very nice and what we would expect from service.

The best fish and chips! We ordered the combo with halibut, clams with fries and it was delicious. We also had the clam chowder which was one of the best one we tasted. We are definitely going back for more !

  • Frank N.

The crab cakes are great ; the crab cheddar cheese sandwich mediocre , at best. The clam chowder was also great. But the pricing for this food is way out of line considering the lack of service and the lack of condiments apart from French fries. The food was much too expensive for what one receives.

This was my First trip to Ocean Shores, we happened upon Bennett's Fish Shack and the smells coming from it where DEVINE! So we went in for lunch and where recommended the "Best of the Best" which is their best selling menu options in smaller portions...Cranberry Coast Chicken Cashew Salad, half of their Dungeness Crab & Cheddar Melt Sandwich and a cup of Famous Clam Chowder. The salad and crab melt where AWESOME! Very tasty, made to perfection! While I liked the clam chowder, due to it's high potato content it tasted much more like a potato chowder than a clam chowder, but still decent. (sorry Bennett's I have had better Clam Chowder!) WE enjoyed our meal so much that we came back the next day with the kids and had it again! This time WE had the Apple-wood Smoked Bacon Burger, and the Fish and Chips... Bennett's just keeps on bringing their "A" game when it comes to food, The fish was probably the best I've EVER had, and the burger was perfect! The service was good in the BAR, the wait for our oyster shooters was a bit longer than we really thought it should be, but all in all we had a great time and really enjoyed the food! We will be going back!

We ate here twice during a recent family vacation. The food is great, specifically the Best of the Best, clam chowder, fish and chips, and crab cakes. The service is slow, though not as slow as some reviewers experienced, Would definitely eat there again.

  • Ed G.

Went here from Yelp reviews. It's just ok; we all had the Halibut N Chips. The tartar sauce was basically mayo with relish. The Halibut about 1/4 thick and cooked well. Expensive for what you get, but the restaurants have to live with just a short tourist season.

First of all we never received our food after waiting 40 min. The restaurant wasn't packed. we were there on a tuesday evening. There were 10 people inside who were also waiting for food. After 40 min we decided to leave along with about 5 other people. If the cooks weren't so busy joking to the cashiers maybe someone would have eaten. The prices are a little high. This was my first time there and defiantly my last.

My husband and I enjoy a good meal wherever we are, particularly when he doesn't have to cook. He's a great cook and loves it even in a tiny motel kitchen, but he was ready to go back to Bennett's twice. Like all have said, great seafood, friendly service and great beer to boot!

This place was TERRIBLE! I cant believe it had such huge ratings! We were in Ocean Shores and Yelped restaurants and decided to try Bennett's because it had excellent reviews. Now, I'm wondering who wrote those reviews? Family members? The fish had a thick coating of greasy batter. My husbands fish was burnt! I wish i had taken a picture of it! So bad that he couldnt eat it. Mine was greasy and blah. The clam chowder tasted like butter and flour. We both agreed it was the worst food we have ever eaten. The bill came to $40.00. Can you say ripped off? The fries were okay and edible. The tarter sauce was mayo mixed with a little relish. The place was cold feeling and by that i mean non inviting or comfortable. We will never go back.

Second visit here, feeling totally ripped off, $5.50 for well gin and tonic really? We didn't even get table service had to go to the bar to order it.

Almost 5 stars... Food was exceptional! We had fish tacos (more like a burrito but awesome, comes with fries) The wild salmon on Ceasar (generous portion, comes with clam chowder) All you can eat smoked salmon fettuccine (soooo good) all you can eat pasta on Wednesdays!!! So... My less one star comes because they have this amazing bar that they don't utilize. No happy hour, no karaoke, bingo, no party at all! It closes at 8pm and Ocean shores is dying for a cool night spot! We had some of the best cocktails Ive had in a while from a bartender named bill (also awesome) but we closed the place down because it closes so early! What a bummer! Stay open if you can, we need you!!! Thanks for the great food and DRINKS! :)

The food was delicious! The halibut and chips probably the best I had! Great place to take the whole family!

Jan 1st at 1:00 pm at Bennetts in Westport was a disaster. A customer was yelling at the staff because of the wait times. I will say that two people working is simply unacceptable during a lunch period. The tables were not bussed and I ended up cleaning my own table. Additionally the kitchen was out of clam chowder and stated it would be a 30 minute wait. Between the mismanagement of the line causing a very disruptive argument while everyone was trying to enjoy their meal and the lack of care in cleaning the tables, this was a very poor experience. Food was decent. I would probably avoid this Bennetts in the future as the food quality and management are much bettet at the Ocean Shores location.

Fast service, friendly and personnaly greeted. Food was fresh, nothing under a hear lamp. Favorites were the clam chowder, the battered cod, and the clam strips. Hand breaded halibut was good, but bit light on overall flavor compared to the above-mentioned.

My best friend came down to Washington from Anchorage, AK for an extended visit. We both needed a trip to the beach so we picked Monday, June 23. The weather was normal...overcast but since she's a non sun worshiper, the weather was fine. I had researched a place to eat and had decided on Bennett's Fish Shack since the majority of the reviews were so favorable. We got there just about 12:30 pm. Crowded but there was room in the bar so...off we go. We got our table and ordered immediately. Unfortunately...almost 2 hours had passed before our order arrived. This was RIDICULOUS. When a young lady's order was served that had only been waiting 15 minutes, our waiter/bartender said he would check on our order. Mind you, the bar was NOT that busy. One group were employees, another group eating, my friend and myself and the young lady that came in after us. That's it. I should have known things were going to go downhill...the bartender took our drink order. My friend ordered a beer and I, a soda. Drinks delivered....one beer and one water. I waited and waited for my soda...nope. We had to get the bartender's attention to get my soda. Finally...FOOD. The clam chowder was very good but cold. I ordered the oysters and fabulous fries. The fries were good but the oysters we sooooo over cooked, they just destroyed the inside of my mouth. My friends order was delivered in pieces...a little of this and then the rest later. About the only good thing we either one would have to say was the atmosphere was nice. I would never go back. We would get better food and service from McDonald's and I HATE that place.

Came here while on vacation from Los Angeles. A couple at our campground told us the crab sandwich was "to die for" - stopped in and ordered the crab sandwich and a cup of clam chowder. That simple order was delivered 40 minutes later. Yup, 40 minutes later for a sandwich and chowder. Sandwich was good, clam chowder was great, but that wait... a little ridiculous. I suggest going in before you feel the hunger pains :)

Yummy! Eat here!! Fish tacos were so tasty! Service was friendly, prompt and courteous. Staff had great recommendations and we were not disappointed! Wish there was a Bennett's in every town along the coast as there were many more menu items that looked delicious! Service with a smile!

Really Really liked this place Lots of parking, good cheery staff. They bring out the food to you, but you have to get your own silverware/drinks, so it is kind of self serve. I had the Bennett's best, which is a portion of the cranberry salad, a crab melt sandwich and a cup of clam chowder. The crab was really good and chunky in the sandwich, and the Cranberry chicken salad was really refreshing. The clam chowder had large chunks of potatoes and good sized clams and tasted really good. I'm just glad there is another option to eat out at in Ocean Shores!

  • Chuck B.

Cole slaw is really good, clam chowder just OK. Could be thicker and more flavorful. The breaded prawns were on the skimpy side for $13, left me hungry. Wife had cranberry salad which was very good.

We went to Ocean Shores over the 4th of July, and decided to have lunch at Bennett's. They were open at 11am, and serving a nice lunch menu. The restaurant is laid out nicely, the menu easy to read, the bathroom is clean, and the atmosphere is comfy. I ordered the chicken strips basket, served with fries. I got 4 pieces of chicken, which were juicy... most times, at places where I've ordered this, the chicken is quite dry. My wife got their fish taco. OMG, it was more like a HUGE fish burrito. She shared half of it with me (and I kindly shared half of my chicken.... we're sweet like that)! It was really tasty, with a sauce that gave a little hint of spice. Others in our party tried their crab cakes, clam chowder, hamburger, and a few other items. Everyone was happy with their selections and ate all of the food. There wasn't even a crumb to be found on our table when we were finished (that's a family trait!)!!! I'd recommend Bennett's to anyone going out to Ocean Shores for a nice lunch, or dinner.

Considering that this is a seafood place, it was pretty sad that the best item here was their fries. Everything we ordered came out really bland. We ordered the crab cakes, halibut sandwich, fish "tacos" and a small clam chowder. The crab cakes were made of real crab meat but they were very bland! The halibut sandwich was pretty good. The fish tacos were not really tacos - they were actually burritos!! (see picture I posted) It tasted a little bitter too. The clam chowder was pretty good. However, based on our overall experience, we will never come back here.

Ok, I've posted before about this busness before. Last night we went thee because some friends took us. Well, They did not let us down. It sucked!! They can't even cook a steak. The choder was so thick I stood my spoon up in it and no tast what so ever. People if you want good food at a good price DON't GO HERE!!!

We came here for dinner on a Thursday night. It was crowded, so we sat ourselves outside. It took 50 minutes for us to receive our dinner. It the beer batter on the cod was delicious, but I'm not sure it was worth the wait. Clam strips were delicious, clam chowder was thick and creamy but bland. The seating here I casual but a bit ridiculous. Patrons are left to seat themselves and consequently couples sit at large booths, leaving larger family groups to fend for themselves outside. All in all, the food was tasty but we won't wait that long for it again.

Upon looking at other reviews, I was surprised to see Bennett's recieving anything under three stars from reviewers. During my last visit, I paid close attention to every detail of the restaurant and how they operate, and my conclusion is that if past negative reviews are accurate, Bennett's has worked hard on consistency. I pulled up on a Monday night, and for some reason, all the tables were full. Business was hopping. I placed an order to go, and expected a bit of a wait. Although the wait wasn't too bad, the lady who appeared to be the head chef and/or kitchen manager saw me waitng, poked her head out of the kitchen window and asked what I was waiting on. She smiled and said that they were working on it right then and it would be up soon. This is a small detail, but I appreciated the personal attention, and it was evidence that she was really on top of what was going on, constantly scanning the kitchen as well as the entire restaurant. The rest of the staff was friendly and the food was fantastic, as I expected. The place was clean and organized, and the employees did a great job of managing the crowds, keeping the food coming, and clearing the tables for incoming diners. As for the hard seating surfaces that a few people have negatively commented on, I assume that this was part of the decor plan and budget. They are going with the casual seafood bar idea after all, and they're easy to clean with all the grimy kids coming in.

So I was really looking forward to eating in just because I realized how small our hotel room was and I really wanted to escape the cold but as soon as we walked in there was a line and it looked like all tables were taken. You would think it's a regular restaurant where a server serves you but apparently it's one of those places where you get in line at the front and you order at the cash register and then try to find an empty table and they bring the food to you? I suck at waiting. I get bored and start doing weird stuff so I suggested we just do a take out order and eat in our small but warm hotel room. I get the battered shrimp combo, boyfriend gets cod and my six year old gets the chicken tenders. Young lady at the register tells us it'll take at least 40 minutes for the food to be done and I almost thought about going elsewhere but we decide to wait. I'm glad I waited. Everything was better than I thought it'd be which is always a plus since I always expect the worst in stuff. It's my optimistic nature working overtime ;) The fries are seasoned and cooked perfectly; not at all soggy like I thought to-go fries would be. I tried my son's chicken tenders and even that is good since I usually stay away from fried food. My shrimp came with a tartar sauce and some kinda cocktail sauce which were amazing! It had a hint of horseradish to it which gave it this nice extra kick and definitely stood out. If they bottled their sauce and sold it in stores I would def buy! Food was greasy but not that bad kinda greasy that makes your stomach rumble and you feel like the grease is traveling through your veins and your brain is calling you a fat ass and then five minutes later you have to say hi to the toilet. It was grease in a good-can't-stop-eating kinda way. My shrimp was battered perfectly and not all soggy and weird. They were a nice size and juicy. Boyfriends cod was soft and flaky and for someone that doesn't like fish and chips too much I definitely enjoyed his. Everything surpassed expectations. Will be back.

Wow, Ocean Shores is kind of a dump. I was expecting quaintness a la some of the little towns on the Oregon Coast. The shark-themed store didn't even have a shark costume for my dog, major disappointment. Anyway. We drove through Ocean Shores en route to Lake Quinault and after frolicking on the beach, wanted some lunch. This place looked like a decent option and it delivered. Delicious fried seafood options galore, good fries, and a boatload of tartar sauce to drown it in. Thank you, Washington State, for bringing the glorious combo of tartar sauce + fries to my life.

We didn't have too many food options on a Thursday night in March, but after reading the great reviews of this place, we decided to swing on by. I liked the coastal pub/restaurant feel after first walking in the door and we were greeted immediately by a friendly woman who told us our options. We decided to sit in the bar. The bartender was friendly and made a delicious bloody mary for me. I love a good homemade bloody mary. The pickled veggies that they serve with it are quite tasty as well. My friend got a beer and they had a really good selection on tap. I ordered the crab cakes, which were supposedly famous. $12.95 for two. They were on the smaller side for crab cakes, but they were ALL dungeness crab meat and none of that breading filler that many places use. Definitely flavorful and priced just right. Friendly staff, an inviting atmosphere, and decent food. I'd go back.

Wow!!! I don't know what happened to this place. Last Oct 2012 it was awesome now it stinks. Dropped almost $50 on 2 battered cod combos. the fish was severely over cooked and dripping with grease, clam strips were so over cooked they were like eating rubber bands and the fries were soggy with grease from the fish to the point of being not edible. I'm done with Bennett's

We were looking for good places to eat dinner at in ocean shores and this place was great! My wife and I both ordered the bacon cheeseburgers. They were delicious. We have had a lot of burgers but these were amazing. My wife never finishes her burger but she ate the entire thing. Will go back!

After searching for something open after 8pm, we found Bennett's Fish Shack. Super BUSY! We waited in line forever. Limited seating, I had to scout a table while my husband waited to order. Pretty expensive for some fish and chips, but hey, it's a tourist town. It was yummy for deep fried fish though.

Bloody marry was bloody nasty, quick service without a smile, a little overpriced for basically long John silvers. Sat by the window near the patio, the let people smoke on the patio; the smell was too much. Ended up leaving without finishing.

I really love the ambiance of this new restaurant, but I'm not a big fan of the Halibut & Chips. The fish tasted really fresh, but the batter was bland. Maybe I'm just spoiled living in Seattle and having access to Spud's and Ivar's. Someone at a nearby table ordered the Cod & Chips, which looked way better. I'll have to try that next time. Some other people in my dining party ordered the wrap, which they said was delicious. I heard the fish tacos were okay. When my friend took them home and added lime juice, they were apparently 10 times better. Another person at our table ordered a bacon cheeseburger, which looked AMAZING. He loved it. So a mixed review from our large party - some loved their food, some thought it was okay. No one disliked their meal.

fish and chips are greasy all the way through. Batter tastes like pancake mix. Unfortunate this is one of the only seafood restaurants in town.

  • Antonio S.

The food is very good. I would definitely recommend the Famous Crab Cakes. The wait time was simply unacceptable, especially as I was sitting at the bar: 55 minutes! I have been told by other customers that that was an exceptional situation, due to a convention taking place nearby, which created unusually high traffic. Yet I would have appreciated at least a heads-up, and maybe a couple chips or something to keep my appetite under control...

    (3)
  • Kelly H.

Never, never, never go there if they have a line. I only had 10 people ahead of me, but it took them 45 minutes to get the food served. The worst part was that people who had come in much later than me were served earlier. And I had a simple order - just fish & chips and a salad. Good fish but not worth the poor service.

Fish Taco on a GF tortilla was MAGICAL and the French fries (chips) are GF as well. Hubby had halibut and chips and the little one had the kids fish basket. Everything was great! The owner came out and met us and we chatted a while (very nice! And very proud of his hard work put into this place - there are two other locations in different cities, we will be visiting those too) and he took us to the kitchen for a tour. THE CLEANEST KITCHEN EVER! He spoke about offering more GF items soon. You HAVE to try this place.

This is a really good fish and chips place. The whole family was happy, which can be quite the feat sometimes. 2 of us had the cod and chips, the fish was flaky and delicious. The fried oysters weren't too big and were very tasty. The chowder and the cole slaw were both good but not memorable. Service was fast and friendly. We would definitely eat here again when we get back to Ocean Shores.

My boyfriend and I came here over the weekend around 3pm to grab some lunch. We decided to sit in the bar. This place has a good look (clean and visually appealing) and friendly staff. The bartenders were hilarious and the drinks were good. I ordered the cod and clam combo and my bf the apple wood smoked bacon burger. Both were absolutely delicious! I will be sure to come back here the next time i'm in Ocean Shores.

Unbelievably GREAT. Staff was so curteous-- the place is spotless and all food was fresh to order. I had the fish and chips and a glass of their Iced Green Tea that is self serve and I could have all I could drink. This place needs to feed the Royalty- I will be back, nothing else can compare, I here thre are 2 other locations too- YUM!

was looking for a good seafood place before Razor Clam dig. Came in based on the reviews and the reviews are spot on. PROS: 1. Hands down the BEST fried clams I have ever had. delish!! 2. Hands down the BEST Fish & Chips I have ever had. The Cod was incredibly fresh, sweet and moist. Nice large pieces. 3. Fried Prawns was very good. 4. Beer Batter is VERY good, probably the best I have ever tried (and I have lived on both coasts). Not heavy, great flavor, not nasty/greasy. 5. Heard from someone in group (who got a complimentary cup of chowder) that the Clam Chowder was VERY good. CON: 1. Why does a place like this (that is so good but out in NOWHEREVille) have to charge such high prices? I mean $14.00 for Halibut & Chips (and you get only two pieces!) is a bit outrageous! We ended up spending $40.00 on Clam/chips, F&C and Prawn/chips. ouch.

This is by far the best seafood ever! Our family has been there 4 times now and they are consistently GREAT! The atmosphere is fun for all ages and always clean. The wait staff is very friendly and welcoming. Everything is so tasty. The cod is excellent! It is well worth paying a bit more for. I highly recommend trying:)

In my opinion, this place is WAY overpriced. Fried seafood and fries for two, one bowl of clam chowder, and two beers were about $50. The bartender was friendly, but his incessant whistling was very irritating. Like nails on a chalkboard. In the end, if the food had been good, I could have overlooked the cost and the whistling, but it wasn't. The chowder had very few clams, and was in desperate need of cream. Very potato-y. The fried clams were quite chewy, although some of them were amazingly tasty and tender, so I couldn't send them back. The fries were excellent, as was the tartar sauce. But good fries and good tartar sauce does not a return trip make...sorry.

Can't say enough about the great lunch we just had here! I had the hand battered halibut and it was fab-u-lous! Fresh, perfectly cooked--2 HUGE pieces of fish. My sons had the clam strips, also huge, and a chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich looked great and the 10 yo loved it. Hubby had the fish sandwich which was also sizable and tasty. Full bar. Had. Nice hefe to wish it down. Yum.

My review comes with a disclaimer that I have a high school friend that works here and brags about how awesome this place is. This means, I have a slight bias. Friend aside, my fiance's family and I went here twice during our weekend stay in Ocean Shores. Both times, I ordered the fish taco and both times I was enamored by how delicious (and huge) the tacos were. Others ordered fish and chips, halibut sandwiches, and other stuff I can't remember. Not one person had a complaint about the food. I found the kitchen staff to be efficient and we never had an excessive wait for the food. That said, it was all quite fresh anyway. The counter staff are polite and knowledgeable about the product they sell. The cost is a bit pricey but you get a huge quantity of food. Overall, even if friend didn't work here, I would still go back.

We had noticed this place the last couple of times we were out here in Ocean Shores and kept promising ourselves that we'd give it a try. Well, this weekend was it. We both liked the ambiance; family style, sort of 'self-serve', but with a separate bar for the adults. I chose the fried fresh oysters and fries platter with a side of coleslaw and Bee had the fried halibut platter with a side of clam chowder. We were both favorably impressed with the size of the servings. Good portions of fish and not too many fries (which came cheerfully unsalted). It being our first time there we didn't quite understand that the onus of getting the napkins, silverware and drinks was on us, but now that we know, we're both cool with it. (an aside from the order-taker person would have been helpful). The fish, oysters, fries, and chowder arrived piping hot and the coleslaw was nicely chilled. The chowder appeared to be home made, big chunks of potato and celery and topped with a daub of butter. Very tasty! Partway through the meal the owner stopped by the table and asked if everything was to our satisfaction. He also asked how we had heard about the place. We said we were 'drive-by' customers. All in all a very nice meal.

Expensive but good food. About $3-$5 more per plate that I would expect to pay at another comparable restaurant. However, we go back because the food is good quality. We often travel to Ocean Shores in the off season and have always had excellent service. The place looks like it gets really busy during the high season.

I would highly recommend this place and would go back next time I'm at Ocean Shores. Fresh delicious food and the portions were huge for a very reasonable price. My brother and sister-in-law both had the Bennett special which included a sandwich, chowder and a salad - they couldn't finish it (my brother has a hearty appetite!). I had the crab cakes and chowder - DELICIOUS! Even the burger that my father ordered did not skimp on the burger. The tempura prawns were huge and needed to be shared with the rest of the family. The wait service were extremely kind and patient with us because we kept asking for this and that.

Nice venue, friendly staff, mouth watering raspberry lemonade greets you as you step into line (tip: mix lemonade with a little 7up...you won't regret it!) Limited menu, but nice variety of fish (obviously). As a non fish eater ( yes, I know don't belong here and understand the irony), there are only a couple choices (one of which is the kid's menu). However, there are both some veggie and gluten-free options. (my pescatarian friends say the batter your fish order, so you can get without batter if you like!)

What a great surprise! We'd written off most of the food in Ocean Shores as awful... so we stepped through the doors at Bennett's with a good deal of Hesitation. But they proved us wrong! Best food of the whole trip! I'd recommend Bennett's to anyone visiting Ocean Shores. I had the Crab Cakes and my friends had the Fish Tacos. Everyone got the amazing french fries! Great food, decent atmosphere, clean and GREAT SERVICE!

Great little fish place at The Shores. Ask for your chowder at the counter because it will be awhile until the order shows up. Good food all around. Two visits with six fussy eaters and all were thumbs up.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside, which seems to be the trend in Ocean Shores, but was surprisingly spacious & well decorated in the inside. We went on a Saturday night around 7:00 PM & the place was crazy packed. We had the clam chowder where the texture resembled more like mashed potatoes with a big glob of butter in the middle, not such a fan. However, the crab melt and COD fish & chips were delish! We'll be back when we're in the area.

On a mini-vacation in Ocean Shores last weekend my better half found this place on Yelp and boy am I glad we tried it. The prices are reasonable, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the food is great. You can choose to order and pay at the counter in the main dining room or you can opt for full wait service in the bar. Either way is a win because the food is awesome! Let me start by saying how much I love crab cakes. If a restaurant has crab cakes on the menu, I'm going to try them. Usually, I'm disappointed by an abundance of filler. Not at Bennett's! The menu describes their crab cakes as "famous" and they certainly should be. As soon as I cut into the perfectly crisped cake I knew there would be no disappointment. Crab, crab and more crab are what you see and what you taste. The seasoning is on point, there is a wonderful sauce drizzled on top and the sides of pico de gallo and sliced avocado round out the flavors beautifully. Just wonderful! OK, now that I'm done swooning over the crab cakes, let's move on. First, awesome french fries! Seriously! Cut about a 1/2 inch thick they are perfectly golden brown, super crispy and light and fluffy on the inside. Just exactly what french fries should be. The battered cod is also super tasty with a golden brown, puffy and crunchy outside and moist, tender fish inside. My one gripe is that I wish the oil had been blotted off a little better. The tasty tartar sauce is perfect with the fries and fish so get some! The house made raspberry lemonade is tart and sweet and perfect mixed with some 7 Up as the very friendly staff will suggest. All in all a great place to eat, so we went twice!

I had the halibut sandwich and it was incredible, very flavorful. The fries are the best! The skin is left on and not too soggy and not dried out. My girlfriend had the cod and chips and she loved it. We shared a small cup of clam chowder and it was literally the best clam chowder I've ever had. We almost didn't go in because it looked a bit like a roadhouse or some bar but im very glad we did! Clean establishment with a friendly staff. Definitely recommend.

It's a shame that Ocean Shores doesn't have any really good seafood restaurants. Having said that, Bennetts has some of the best food in town. I had the crab cakes, and my sweetie had the " Best" combo - crab sandwich, salad and chowder. The crab cakes were delicious, with lots of crab and very little filler. The chowder was tasty, but only lukewarm. The decor is nicer than you'd expect, sort of classy roadhouse. There is full service in the small bar area; otherwise you order at the counter. This place isn't cheap, but the food is good and the waitstaff were friendly. It's not up-scale, but it is good.

In the past I have taken several guests to Bennett's, after tonight never again! They were busy and we were told it would be a 35 to 40 minute wait. was fine. There were eight of , after one hour one cheeseburger came. We asked where the rest of the order was as several people who came in after us had been served, we were told they were busy and it was coming. Next came a Caesar salad and two orders of fish and chips and Two children's burgers . We had watched the fish and chips be taken out of a to go bag on the counter. All the hot food was icy cold. One child was so hungry by now he ate his cold. We returned the rest to be redone. At 1 and1/2 hours the second Caesar salad and chicken tenders came, no ranch dressing for the chicken. We requested it and were forgotten about, had to flag down another waitress.First part of our party finished eating and I called waiter over and asked where the rest of the food was he said he understood I was upset but they were busy it would be there soon. My son in law then found the manager who compensated us and gave aus a gift certificate for 50% of the cost of our meal. My son-in law and husband then left with three of the children ,while three of us sat and waited for our food to arrive in a to go bag. At two hours plus we got our food, upon inspecting it in the car there was no tqrtar sauce and the fish and chips were again icy cold.. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had.I thought the manager should have .t least apologized and overseen the corrections. The waiters who obviously lost our order originally( they finally took our receipt back to the cook) should also have been apologetic rather than acting put upon by the fact we wanted our food. I should mention at no time did we cause a scene or treat them badly even though I so wanted to take back the $25 tip I had stuck in their jar when we ordered, of course I didn't.

Great crab cakes, good fish and chips. Nice selection of beer and cocktails. We found the service friendly! Thank goodness another restaurant choice other than Viet hoa now in ocean shores with good food!

"Saturday afternoon June 30 we were very hungry and thought this looked like a great place for lunch. Never again! Slow service, 45 min wait for a cheeseburger and a fish sandwich and we still had not received our food. This is very sad for a restaurant that was not that busy. It took almost 50 min for lunch to arrive. The food was ok, but not for the time it took and the price we paid."

My wife & I have eaten lunch here several times over the past year & it's always been good. I always get the halibut & chips with a cup of chowder & my wife gets the clam strips. Always very consistent in the way they prepare their food.

here is a brief rundown. i try to make them all brief, but it never happens. came in for dinner. i had a cup of chowder and the caesar. chowder was good, i needed a little extra salt though. ceasar was good, a little too cheesy for me. my dad and brother had the cod and the batter was too greasy. the beer was cold so that's a plus. the group (softball girls and parents we were with came in about 10 minutes before closing ) and bennett's served them which i thought was really nice. could have gone the other way. i also heard the fish taco was delish. it was HUGE..when i read fish taco (singular) i was like..what a rip, but after seeing it, they should actually say fish burrito and not cause people like me confusion and anger. if i ever find myself in ocean shores again, i would go to bennett's. also, if you're a lady, let me know what you think of the bathroom. it's a 1 person bathroom...but there are two toilets...facing each other with no door....awkward.

Great fish and chips. Both the cod and the halibut are good. If they have it on tap, the Dick's Danger Ale is awesome. Glad Bennett's came to OS.

It's during the winter months that we see another side of summer resorts like Ocean Shores. The population shrinks by half, and only those who truly believe in and care about the place remain to welcome people like me, here on a short business trip. Life on the road can be lonely, and so we seek warmth, good food, and bonhomie at the end of the day. Bennett's delivers. Brad and the rest of the wait- and bar- staff are friendly without being overbearing, sensitive to customers' needs, and proficient at all they do. I came for drinks and dinner three nights in a row, and every time I returned to my hotel thinking Ocean Shores is pretty lucky to have a year-round establishment like Bennett's. Their hand-dipped chocolate ice cream bars warm the heart even when the weather's frosty.

We're here on the off season and the restaurant was nearly empty. We ordered at the counter, fish and chips small cup of chowder. About 26.00 with tip, a little spendy. We took a seat and waited about 10 minutes before we were brought platters of fries with two huge pieces of beer battered cod. The chowder was thick, I mean thick. The fish was flakey, moist. The chowder tasted of clams and potato. A great meal that you'd expect when coming to the seashore.

Good food, but expect a very long wait for it - 30 to 40 minutes when the place is full. Perhaps a bit pro y for what it is as well. Dogs welcome on the patio. More stars later if they figure out how to serve the crowd more efficiently.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant, but definitely not my last! We went there based on previous reviewers recommendations. The clam strips were quite possibly the best I have ever had. They were large strips of clams, not like those places that have little pieces of clams with lots of breading. My dining mate had the hand breaded halibut and loved it as well. Also the tarter sauce was homemade and excellent. The only thing that wasn't great was the clam chowder. It was luke warm and just ok. The service was great. It was fast food style where you order at counter and they bring to the table. What was nice was that at least four times the wait staff checked on us to make sure everything was ok. Not the cheapest place in town, but you get what you pay for at this place.

Was in Ocean Shores 7/31-8/3 and I saw the pretty good reviews compared to all the other food establishments. Conviently near the main beach strip, we decided to have lunch since we have been eating in. I was determined to try the Chowder and I always try the Fish & Chips in most restaurants. All was delicious, but my only thought that it was a bit pricey since we paid about $32 with lemonade. Oh well, we are in tourist trap!

We ordered at the counter and sat down at the table. Your order was brought to us. You can also have full service at the bar. Fried oysters was good but we had better. Battered cod was pretty good. The meat was firm and the portion was generous (3 big pieces). Dungeness crab cake was the best. It was 90% crab meat chunks. Delicious! All three plates came with French fries. Staff was all friendly.

My husband and I had dinner here weekend of June 16th for the first time. We ate in the lounge, because you do get full service there and we like to avoid any noisy children when ever possible. Unfotunately there was a SCREAMING child in the regular portion of the restaurant that went on the entire time we were there. It was so irritating it was hard to enjoy the meal. So, that being said, we ordered 1 halibut sandwich and a cup of chowder to split. The chowder was excellent, very tasty. The sandwich had great veggies on it, but a very thin slice of halibut that had a pretty thick coating of batter. So, I barely tasted the halibut. If you sit in the regular restaurant you do not get waited on at all, everything is stand at the counter and order, then pickup. The service was excellent in the lounge. But, when my husband asked the owner if there was anything he could do about the screaming child in the restaurant, he said NO - there was nothing he could do. I was quite surprised, I thought he could have at least asked them to go outside for a few minutes and give EVERYONE else in the restaurant a break from the noise. The restaurant was about 1/2 full, and everyone had to endure the screams. and I mean LOUD screams. The lounge has open windows to the rest of the restaurant, so there was no break from the noise in there. We may try this place again, but will definitely not have the halibut sandwich again.

I do not consider myself a seafood expert, but the food here didn't give me anything to complain about. The members of the staff were all friendly and helpful. If I ever make it back to ocean shores this will definitely be on my itenerary.

We went to Bennett's because of other yelp reviews and were itching for some seafood after giving some local Indians our hard earned money. At first when walking in the place looked like we had made the right choice. Nice big menu with lots of choices, nice atmosphere, a bar area with cold drinks and the game on in the background. What else could a guy want. We ordered the two different combo baskets, 1 had halibut, clam and fries and the other was the same thing but cod instead of the halibut. We got our number grabbed a seat and then began lubricating my patient taste buds with some choice hops and barley. Bartenders and customers were friendly at the atmosphere was light. Then my beer starting to get low and the grumble in my stomach a bit louder. We had seen the waitress walk by several times and asked if it was ours but every time was a polite no. It starting seeming like it was getting abnormally long so my wife went to the front to ask, maybe they did not bring it to you and it had been waiting under the heat lamp for 10 minutes and we were the idiots. However that was not the case, she assured her that it would be out in a moment. A couple more commercials passed on sports center...Howard to the Rockers, soccer game ending in a tie, I think an Ethiopian guy won the marathon. Then finally the food arrived. It was an ample baskets of fish with fries underneath. The halibut was nice big flat filets (2) and the cod about the size of 2 sausages. The fish tasted fresh and was good. The tarter sauce it came with had a good creamy flavor with average seasoning. We finished up and left. Overall it was an average fish shack that needs to work on their time from register to hot plate in front of you. I probably will not go back but glad I went and now I am not hungry and I know the Lakers will suck next year!

Overpriced and nothing special. Next time we are in this area, we will probably try to find something else. We came here on a pretty crowded Sunday for lunch. The ambiance is clean, new and casual We ended up waiting 40 minutes for our food, which cost us over $64 for (i) 4 entrees (fried clam strips, fried halibut, fried oysters and bacon cheeseburger), (ii) 1 bowl of clam chowder and (iii) 2 soft drinks. Most of the seafood entrees are fried, which was a bit disappointing. (They were out of the crab cakes at 1230 p.m.!) I found the clam used in the fried clam strips to be chewy and not that fresh. The gooey consistency of the clam chowder reminded me something that comes out of a Campbell. However, my husband and son loved the bacon cheeseburger and fried halibut.

This place was great! Very local food, and friendly staff that got the food out in a timely manner. My wife and I had the crab cakes and the fish taco and out of the two, the fish taco took the lead. It was awesome! The crab cakes were not bad at all we just preferred the taco. The second time we came back we met the owner, Ron. We told Ron we were yelping about how great his restaurant was and he said he was very thankful and then brought my wife and I each a beer free of charge! Awesome experience to top off our weekend! Will definitely return!

Got the "best of the best" special. The meal was pretty good size for the price of $13.99. The Crab sandwich was good, I might get it as an open face sandwich next time. The salad was excellent with cranberries and cashews. And the clam chowder was deeeelish! Very clammy, which I love. And the space is very well designed and clean. Good choice if you're looking for dinner and a drink.

I had the Best of the Best and it was THE BEST. It was a cup of clam chowder, cranberry coast chicken salad and 1/2 of the Dungeness crab melt. ALL WERE DELCIOUS! Clean. Friendly service. Great selection. Good food. Even off season!!!!

Ok food and ok service. Had the "Best of the Best" and wife had the fish tacos as recommended by the server. Busy place. Sat in the bar because there was full service. But the servers stayed pretty busy with the walk-up orders. Could probably use another server or so. We kinda have to go middle of he road with tis experience. Not horrible or memorable...just ok.

Very good chowder, thick, no bacon and lots of clams. Shrimp was excellent, crab salad was amazing enough for two. Halibut fish and chips was very good. I did not love the clam strips however. A little chewy for my liking. We were there at 7pm it was very busy so the food was slow coming out but the wait staff was all very friendly. We will go again before we go home. I found out on the way out they have ice cream they dip in chocolate.

This place is freakin awesome!! We had been at the clam festival and tasted their clam chowder. The best ever! So we decided have some lunch at the restaurant. When we walked in they were packed, you order from a board and then take a seat. We had coupons from the festival and the cashier had a couple issues but she handled them with a smile and a joke. Nice! I ordered the Bennetts special; a cup of chowder, half of a grilled crab sandwich and a small salad. Like I said the chowder was great, the salad a thing of beauty with cashews, cranberries, goat cheese on a bed of mixed greens with a light sesame type dressing. The sandwich, now that was something amazing! Fresh crab, lots of it, a light amount of mayo, green onion and some celery. OMG it was so good! My mouth is watering right now! I would def recommend. So delish!

Stopped by here on vacation and ordered the breaded halibut and it was amazing. A perfect amount of breading to fish ratio. The fish just melted in your mouth. They also have a bar which is always a plus. Next time I will try the chowder.

Amazing place. We looked up good food to eat on here while vacationing in Ocean Shores, and Bennett's was the highest rated! We walked in, looked at the menu, decided what we wanted, started to order it... Then the cashier interrupted to tell us about the special of the night. It was a fettuccine with tons of different kinds of seafood, so we listened to her advice because it sounded good. We got a salad and a chowder to share as well. We were so happy that she had told us about the special! So much seafood in it! Felt like equal parts pasta and seafood! The staff (including the manager who came over and said hello) were incredibly nice and genuine! The only thing I didn't like about it was the butter. So much butter. But that's just me. I'm not a fan of butter. I would definitely go back, but I will ask for my food sans the butter dollop :D

We thought this place was pretty awful. Why would you have a fish restaurant in a coastal town and not use fresh fish? The fish in the fish and chips basket was too doughy and the batter too sweet. The shrimp in the (almost $13!) shrimp salad tasted like it had been frozen. The atmosphere had no local or original feel but was more like a poor mans "Crab Shack". The service was terrible. When they brought the food to the table and noticed that we didn't have silverware the waitress said, "the utensils are over there" and walked away.

Awesome! My wife and father-in-law shared a 3-piece fish and chips, and that was more than they could handle. The reports where crispy and very tasty. I had a Halibut Fish Sandwich, and it was perfect. The fillet was twice the size of the bun and fried perfect. We shared a bowl of clam chowder, very good. It had chunks of potato and a huge helping of clams. I would recommend Bennett's to anyone heading out to Ocean Shores.

Bennett's is a nice, new location from a couple other locations. Great food, reasonable prices, nice atmosphere. My southwest burger was awesome. Fresh pico, fresh avocado, mozzarella, and just delicious. Great friendly service too.

Certainly on a par with Ivar's fish & chips take-out in Seattle. Cole slaw is very good. Only problem I had was the service was a little slow - 26 minutes to get fish & chips from the time stamp on the receipt to at my table.

Told this was the place to go in Westport and Grayland, now in Ocean Shores! They had just opened the night before, so the wife and I decided to give them a shot for lunch. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with "Welcome to Bennett's Fish Shack", seemed a little rehearsed, but still many would appreciate this warm welcome. It was apparent that they had just opened as you could still smell some of the new paint and the menu was written on poster paper and attached to the wall. While we waited in line to order, one of the owners came up and gave us some descriptions of the menu items not described on the poster paper (the Fish Taco and Southwestern Burger) he also told us that they use 90% local crab, which is pretty cool, and good for all the local fishermen. While both the burger and fish taco sounded great, we decided on the Halibut and Chips (13.99), Clam Strips(9.99) and a cup of Chowder (3.99). As we sat and waited for our food to arrive I noticed what a nice job Bennett's did with their build out, it sort of looked like a mid range chain restaurant (E.G. Applebee's, Red Lobster) and I'm sure the restaurant gods will strike me down for saying this, I liked it, There was continuity between the new exterior to the building (which Bennett's did) and the interior. Lots of distressed corrugated metal siding and a very cool looking bar under a faux shed facade with a great looking assortment of beer on tap. This is without a doubt the most put together and contemporary looking place is OS. Oh and let me be clear the food and service MUCH better than any mid range chain. Anyways, our food arrived at our table, two large pieces of halibut and decent amount of chips, a large portion of what I think are razor clam strips and fries and a large cup of chowder. Both entrees were accompanied by a cup of tartar sauce and a smaller cup of cocktail sauce. The Halibut was good, panko breading, not too greasy but a little lacking in flavor by itself, but very good with malt vinegar or the tartar. Fries were fresh cut and crisp. The Clam Strips however were amazing. These were not the tiny strips you're use to seeing. Large meaty strips crisp on the outside, but tender and moist inside, delicious by themselves, and even better with the vinegar or cocktail sauce. The Chowder was a little of a disappointment, came out scalding hot and very thick. Strangely it thinned out as it cooled, mostly broth, a few pieces of clam, but nice chunks of veggies and potato, still in a town where many people compete in chowder contests, Bennett's just doesn't hold up. Bennett's is not a bargain restaurant, but the prices are realistic of what fresh fish costs today, still I think including some slaw (instead of charging 1.99 for a side) with a 14.00 entree would be a good PR move to help with the higher end prices. All and all a very good restaurant. I look forward to coming back and trying a burger or the fish taco.

Stopped in here for lunch. We usually go to Alac's but wanted to give it a try. The food was only okay. I had The Cod and chips was good. My wife had the Halibut. It was a few dollars more and was not very good. It tasted like something I could buy in a box. The fillet was very thin and lacked flavor. The fries were really good and the clam chowder was a little watery. The reason they only get two stars is that the service was horrible. That lady at the front counter was rude and seemed annoyed that we were even there. Also, there were no substitutions allowed. I tried to get a salad or cup of chowder instead of fries and the lady looked at me like I was an idiot. Sorry guys I won't be coming back to Benetts anytime soon. Really to bad because the place looks nice and it seems like people like it.

Had an amazing Lunch at Bennett's on sunday. down at Ocean Shores for the Beach Fun Festival. I had the Chicken Cranberry Cashew feta salad - better even than it sounds and it was so big, I had to take half home with me. My partner had the fish taco...they usually served it with battered fried cod - but Randi the owner said they would make it grilled per customer request. There was a cashier/waitperson (can't remember his name, unfortunately ) who greeted us - gave us recommendations, came to check how his recommendations tasted and even chatted for a few minutes. He is a senior in high school in Seattle and goes to Ocean Shores to work on the weekends. ......Made us feel very welcomed.......The Bar was equally friendly and had my favorite"Manny's on Tap"...$4.50 for a tall, icy pint..........Highly recommend you make a trip down to Ocean Shores ............

One of the best fish and chips places I have eaten at. The clam strips actually had clam in them. Not the typical chunks of breading like a lot of places. The staff was also friendly and helpful.

Great place to get your fish & chip fix !! Great assortment of seafood and burgers too. Excellent food, presentation and staff that are make sure your experience is the best ever. I have now gone there a total of 5 times and each time has not been a disappointment. The chowder is great and so are the Caesar Shrimp or Salmon salad. A super little bar inside is a real pleasure too. Not to miss while you are in Ocean Shores!!

The food and the service was outstanding. The halibut was well cooked, large portion and delicious. The burgers were large, juicy and tasty and the fries were good too. The clam chowder had big clam pieces. The clam strips were also yummy. Definitely coming back soon!

Food was really great. We had the cod and chips, clam strips, clam chowder and the crab melt. All were very good! Beer selection was lacking and the service wasn't great but it is the off season and it was early on a Sunday night so I'd cut some slack. We would go back again for sure.

Ate lunch here last Monday. Restaurant is clean and updated. Staff was fine, no complaints or compliments about it. Only took about 10 minutes for our food to come out, that was nice. Husband and I got cod fish n chips and a halibut fish n chips. Both were ok. The halibut breading was crunchy good but needed some seasoning. The halibut was really thin cut but had a good clean flavor. The cod was a better cut and had a thick fluffy beer batter coating. Neither were too greasy and the fries are quite good and plentiful. The tartar is really good, best part of my meal. The unsweetened green iced tea was good, the regular sweetened iced black tea was so gross. Next time we are in town we might try this place again out of curiosity of the other menu items and the convenient hours, but our experience was not anything special. One step up from Skippers.

The business owner knows how to set up a restaurant and keep people coming in. The seating area and bar were simple yet cozy and clean and the service was great. A lot of ambiance appropriate for a fish shack a couple blocks from the ocean. We had the fish taco and crab cakes, both which came with fries. The food was good, but not great, thus the three stars. The fries were medium cut and crispy, just like I like them. Both dishes came with a generous lettuce/pico de gallo/avocado salad and the portions were normal. Our complaints were that the fish taco needed more fish and less lettuce, and the crab cakes were a little dry and the aoli was lightly drizzled on top, which was not enough. They were also tiny. We saw some humongous burgers come by with the waitresses that looked yummy and they were huge so we will probably try those next time we go. The fried fish looked and smelled good too. Not bad over all. The Mai Tai's were fabulous ;-)

My boyfriend and I were looking for a good place to eat in Ocean Shores(usually hard to find)but pleasantly surprised to find this place. Great service and info from the girl at the counter! Got the crab and cheddar melt special and the fish taco based on previous recommendations. Both were really good and tasty! The owner made a point to come by and ask us how things were. Nice touch for sure!

These people know how to prepare fish. First, they start with high quality fish, halibut, Alaska cod, sockeye salmon (not the farmed, chemically laden Atlantic salmon) and cook it just right, moist and flaky. The staff is friendly and helpful, and while the prices might seem a bit high, the quantity of food makes it worthwhile. We actually were able to make 2 meals out of our order, taking home half of what we were served. Our only complaints are flimsy napkins (a fish shack should have good sturdy napkins since most of the food there is finger food) and tartar sauce that was pretty much tasteless. But the fish was excellent. We'll certainly be making return visits.

Five hungry adults around 8:30 PM on a Friday night looking for dinner in Ocean Shores and the pickings are slim. Decided to try the new place, Bennett's Fish Shack. No cars in parking lot, no people in dining room, handwritten menu taped to wall...this can't be good. Friendly greeting and smile from Jennifer and we're ushered into the bar area where a couple of lost souls are nursing drinks. At least there are some customers, employees scurrying about and the drinks arrive quickly. Caesar salad with grilled salmon, crab cakes, cole slaw and fries are fast out of the kitchen and after a few bites we all agree, this is better than we thought it was going to be. In fact it is pretty darn good. Salad had a bit too much dressing but the salmon was great. Crab cakes could always do with more crab, less filling but that's a universal truth. The fries were perfect! At about $20 per head, this was the best food and best eating out experience I've had in Ocean Shores. No need to stop on Pt. Brown Rd. anymore, I'm heading to Bennett's.

We tried Bennett's based on the reviews and our condo receptionist highly recommended it. It is off season and a very rainy night so crowds and long waits were not an issue. I had the 'famous crab cakes' and my husband had fish and chips. Our order came up quickly and the server was polite. My husbands fish and chips were pretty good, crispy and hot, the fish was moist. My crab cakes were good but not great, they were made with lots of crab and not very much filler, but were a bit bland. These were served on a bed of shredded lettuce with some salsa and a couple of slivers of avocado. The fries were quite good. We each had a glass of wine. Our bill was about $40. The menu was pretty extensive with chicken and burgers, shrimp to name a few and there is a bar room with TVs floating in the middle of the main eating area, and outdoor seating for nice weather. It was ok - a fish shack after all, not gourmet dinning but acceptable.

Took a weekend getaway to the coast and came upon Bennett's. The food is delicious. Halibut, oysters, chowder all satisfied my seafood crave. Pricy but worth it. Went memorial weekend, raining and 60s, we sat outside by the fire thingie warm views and tasty food!

My family & friends go to Ocean Shores a few times every year & on our visit this last weekend we were pleasantly surprised to see the Fish Shack! We stopped by to check the hours of the restaurant and were happy to hear they didn't close unitl 10pm! On Sunday!!! This, as anyone who visits Ocean Shores knows, is late for most businesses there! Sometimes we get into Ocean Shores late and are hungry so it's nice to have this place open late so we don't have to be stuck with McDonalds or hitting a bar, which doesn't work with kids. We decided to eat dinner there Sunday night and it was one the best ( if not THE best) meal I've had in Ocean Shores! My husband & I both had the favorites meal which consisted of half of a crab melt sandwich on sourdough, a salad made with romaine lettuce, chicken, feta & parmesan cheese, craisins and cashews, the dressing was some sort of vinaigrette. It was DELICIOUS! The meal also came with a cup of clam chowder that was to die for! The Bennett family did a great job on the building, both inside and out. Ron, who introduced himself as part of the Bennett family, checked in with my husband, myself and the other couple we were with and offered to refill the clam chowder bread bowl my friends husband ordered but there was no way he could eat anymore! Ron was very personable and we could tell he cares about the customers and making sure we were happy with the service, food and atmosphere. It was very refreshing to have the employees actually care about our experience there. We will definitey eat there on our visits from now on! This is a MUST for anyone visiting Ocean Shores! Prices are comparable to other restaurants in the area,(but the food is much better!) The portions are perfect and the variety of food is great and they have kids meals! We look forward to many more meals here! Thank you Bennett family and best of luck! We'll see you next month!

Bennett's was very yummy food, fun environment and had friendly staff...the only problem we had was that our party of 9 was split into 2 families. One of our orders came out, but the other $75 ticket (for 3 adults and 2 children, no drinks, so a little pricey) was lost. We had our food for an hour before the rest of our party got their food. We have a somewhat strict policy of waiting to eat until everyone has their food, so by an hour into it there were lots of meltdowns from the kids and very grouchy adults. The workers comped the starving family a few bowls of clam chowder but it only came out right before their order (instead of immediately after the mistake was realized). All this to say, it's a fun place, very clean and yummy...our experience was just a bit tainted.

A friend from Ocean Shores recommended this place to us, and it was good. I had the salmon over ceasar salad an it was perfect. Salmon was perfectly cooked, with a little crisp on the outside from the grill, just how I like it. Hubby had the fish an chips and it was delicious. Batter was good and crispy. The portions are decent. The price is a little high, but I think its worth it because the seafood seems very fresh. I would totally come back here again.

We love Bennett's! We live here in Ocean Shores and we visit usually weekly. My daughter loves their clam chowder and we appreciate the great value and consistent food. I know my bacon cheese burger will taste the same every week. The burgers are not over cooked and have tons of flavor. My husband and daughter love the clam chowder in the bread bowl. The sourdough bowl is awsome, crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Now if you come on a busy weekend or during the spring or summer, this place is hopping. You may have a wait on your food, but it is worth it. Staff is helpful and keep an eye on your making sure you have what you need.

We decided to try this based on the reviews. The service was a little slow, they were very busy, so we took it as a good sign. The food was not cheap, but was not too expensive. We had the fish and chips & Dungeness crab sandwich. The food was fresh and the beer was cold. I would come back.

I fully expected to find nothing but touristy, overpriced fried food in Ocean Shores... when we happened upon this wonderful place. We were flying blind, low on iPhone battery and no access to Yelp. Gave this place a whirl, and LOVED it! Fish and chips, fried oysters, and coleslaw were all top notch. Great service. Well-mixed drinks. Nice decor. Clean, lots of sunlight. Only one minor negative... odd women's restroom setup. Two toilets in one big room with one lock on the door. So although it wasn't crowded, there was a line for the latrine. But really, I can easily overlook it in order to enjoy the food and drink and ambiance again. And again.

We spent the day exploring Ocean Shores, and decided to have dinner at Bennett's based upon the high Yelp rating. Now we know why it is rated so high. I had the fish and chips with clam strips, which were delicious, and my wife had crab cakes, which had big pieces of crab and very little filling. The service was excellent and we'll definitely be going back before we leave the area.

We found this place via Yelp. Read the reviews and wanted to see for ourselves. Very friendly workers at this place. Busy, busy, busy. We went for dinner around 6 p.m. but the only seating was outdoors and it was getting a bit cold from the ocean breeze. So, we decided to give them a try the next day. Around 3:30 p.m. we barely got a table. They were THIS busy between lunch and dinner hours! Fish and chips were good, but nothing different or out of the ordinary. Their combo meal that has fish cod, chip, clams, was pretty tasty. One person in our party ordered their Caesar salad w/ bay shrimp. He got a generous heap of shrimp, but the dressing was almost nil on the salad. Overall, our experience was good. Nothing is grilled or baked as far as the seafood goes. Just fried. They do have burgers on their menu, but we wanted to try their fish. Can be pricey, so be prepared!

Our first time trying Bennett's and we weren't disappointed. The good: Ambiance is good Food was tasty and good sized portions. Service was pretty quick despite being busy. Prices are a little on the high side but everything in Ocean Shores is. The bad: Parking stinks...no 2 ways about it. The ordering line was incredibly disruptive to not only customers trying to get drink refills and to the bathroom but also new customers coming in SEATING SUCKS! Plywood benches w/no padding The staff had their priorities REALLY messed up. They are puttering around cleaning windows while there were dirty tables everywhere. Summary: Nice new addition to the area. There is definitely room for improvement but the food quality will bring me back.

I like this place and visit every time I'm in Ocean Shores. Yesterday, we went in at 245pm and ordered the famous Cod Fish n Chips. I've had it before and love it. We placed our order at 2:51pm and didn't receive our fried food until 3:23, over 30 min after ordering. At around 25 min without food, I went up and asked how much longer for our food. I was told it was up and it would be out to us shortly. After a few min, I asked someone passing by where our food was at and was told it would be out shortly. Finally, after 32 min from ordering, our fried food was delivered. The Fish n Chips was very good but felt if it wouldn't have been sitting in the window for so long, it would've been much better. 32 min for fried food is unacceptable no matter how delicious it is. The amount of time ruined the experience and it's upsetting that the manager wasn't out talking with guests and apologizing for the long ticket times.

Great food. Especially the fish and chips. Service was very slow. The few available places to sit were not clean. We watched someone pick up all the garbage from a table after it sat there for about 10 minutes. There were crumbs everywhere on that table and they never bothered to wipe it down. Gross. Great food. Bad service.

Came for lunch on the recommendation of a friend. Sat in bar. Fast friendly service. The serving of fish and clam strips we had was huge! We could have shared a plate and both been full! Delicious. Our service was pretty quick, no extended wait times for us. Would come again!

Service was OK.. Food was acceptable (Halibut filet was a bit singed, but still tasty... The reason I'm rendering a lower rating is they charged. $7 for a beer. Just a regular ol' hefe. Seriously guys.

Very good. Unless you choose to sit in the bar, its a serve yourself venue....order & pay when you walk in, find yourself a table & get your drink of choice out of fountain. Girl at cash register was nice & the reviews I read before coming here were correct in that it was good food. However, for the price, maybe I was just surprised that it was a full service meal? I didnt really care, but perhaps thats the only thing that felt off.

Never eat here!!! We went for dinner with family and we ordered pretty quickly. Had to sit at a dirty table. Asked a waitress for napkins or something to wipe the table. She brought napkins and dropped them off after waiting for 10 minutes. While we waited for over an hour we saw that same waitress clean off several tables for other customers but was so profoundly rude. I finally, after an hour, started seeing people that ordered after us get there food and we still didn't have anything. I went up and asked and the manager was very rude and unprofessional. Our food finally came out and it was burned. I went to complain and the manager told me I was lying and said "well you're eating it aren't you" WHAT!!!! I was stunned at how bitchy and unprofessional and disgusting she was being. We didn't even eat. It was gross! I brought the food back and she barely refunded me for 1 of the 3 things we ordered. And this time she didn't even come out of the kitchen. She call me to go back to the kitchen. And 1 man in the kitchen even threw his hands up at me. If I could I would put up a negative star but I can't. Never going to this crappy place!

The crab melt was a real disappointment. The mix on the inside was like mush with so much other stuff, that you could not taste the crab in the sandwich. The mush on the inside was ice cold and the outside lukewarm. For the $$$$ it was not worth it!!!

Before anyone comes down on me, let me explain. My first experience here was amazing. It was a little busy and took a little longer than expected to get our food, but once it came, I definitely felt it was worth the wait. I had order the Clam Strips and Fries. Clam strips were great. Large meaty strips, not heavily breaded and perfectly cooked. The service was great as well. Now the reason for the two stars. I live in Seattle, and my parents are in Aberdeen. I had come down for the weekend and decided it would be a nice day to head to the beach. Since we were in the area already, I thought it would be great to head to Bennett's a second time, hoping for the same experience, if not better than the last. FAIL! Apparently we got there during the rush. The place was packed, which is a nice thing to see and as we ordered we were prewarned that it would be 40 mins till we get our food. I understood that and still proceeded to order. We were able to luckily find a table and began our wait. 40 mins came and went, and still no food. During that time we saw numerous customers, who already ordered, leave only to have their food come out 20 mins later. About and HOUR AND A HALF in, we finally get our food. By this time my anticipation was at a high, my stomach empty and my mouth salivating. The food was placed on our table and sitting in front of me was a basket of fries and about 5 pieces of clam. WTF?????? Now if these are the new portion sizes, shame on me for not knowing. If you were running low because of the rush, shame on you Bennett's. You could have let me know or offered something in replace. All in all, the food still tasted as good, however the last experience has left a bitter taste. I'm up to give it one more shot, but my recommendation is don't skimp on portion, if you're running low let the customer know, and either learn to handle lunch rushes better or staff accordingly. I'll update my rating after next visit.

Bacon cheeseburger was the best! My friend had the veggie burger which she thought was amazing also, and the crab cakes, well, they were delicious too. Sat at the bar, good atmosphere, friendly service, and the square mile cider, yummy, so share it with a friend!

GREAT food!!!! We had the all you can eat clam chowder and clam strips..... The clam chowder was so yum with lots of clams and the clam strips where big and not a ton of breading just enough. Would have given it a 5 stars if the service was better! Had to wait awhile for food the first round and the second. Defiantly needs more help with the wait staff.

My family and I enjoy Bennett's every trip to Ocean Shores. Their clam chowder is SO yummy and filling! Their halibut is delicious and I don't care for fish! However, I was here last night and got my order to go, and I'm thinking that either they don't do 'to go' well, or just didn't know what they were doing. The clam chowder sourdough bowl was literally thrown into the bag, I mean there was chowder everywhere! It made for a huge mess, same goes for our ceasar salad. I think the only thing that held up at all was my daughters order of chicken strips. I'm sure the next trip we make to Ocean Shores will include a stop at Bennett's, but only to dine IN!

First time visiting oceans shores, went to Bennett's off the recommendations from yelp. It was AMAZING! I had the halibut and fries. The Halibut is fresh and tastes great. My sister had their combo with a crab melt sandwich, chowder and a salad. Everything was so fresh and the service was friendly and helpful. Got some great "local" tips to help plan the rest of the road trip. Bennett's is a must have when in Ocean Shores!!

We were on vacation this past October and stopped to eat here because of the great reviews on yelp. The crab cakes were fantastic and I love the atmosphere and service was great! I will definitely look forward to eating here again if we ever get back up that way.

Good fish good deals and like to sit on stools when I eat. A few odd lookin patrons, but you can't taste that. Get the "best of the best," it's a great deal and a sample of what they can offer. Come for the delicious food, stay for the depleted gene pool family watching

Maybe I'm crazy, but there's not much in Ocean Shores. We were looking for a place to eat and Bennett's was right across the convention center i was having a conference at. DH said "Let's go there!" So, we did -- it was one of the best impromptu decisions we made that trip -- we ate there every day over the course of our trip. - Staff was super nice. They were very accommodating and friendly. - Fish and chips were crispy. I hate soggy Fish and Chips. You know the type where you feel like you could have gotten these frozen from the supermarket? not here. the fish was awesome. - The southwestern burger was SUPER good. I loved it. I ordered the fish and chips the first day, my DH ordered the Southwest burger. I snagged his burger and chomped down 4 big bites. Then, I ordered it the next day. Downside: -The oysters are always sold out! I wanted fried oysters and every day I went in they said they were sold out. This made me sad. If i got back to Ocean Shores again I am getting those oysters!!!

Average at best. Clam chowder tasted as if it was from a can. Everything else was salty and bland. The highlight was the salad.

Every time I visit Ocean Shores, Bennett's Fish Shack is always on my list of places to eat. Their Caesar salads are fantastic! Piled with fresh crab meat, plenty of grated Parmesan and delicious dressing. The owner is extremely friendly and stops by to chat and genuinely cares about the feedback on his food. Will continue to go back!

Delicious seafood. They have a nice little bar inside. The clan chowder is by far the best. Highly recommend it! Especially on a cold day.

Practically the same as Ivar's except prices are inflated. Prices are too high for what you get. Everything is deep fried. I love clam chowder and have had clam chowder from lots of chowder places in SF, Seattle, NY, etc.. This clam chowder wasn't great. Service sucked and the bartender wasn't nice at all. Food was mediocre, prices too high, and service sucked = never going back.

I went to Bennett's twice while staying at Seabrook. I had their fish taco, which is really a big wrap sandwich and it was excellent. The second time I went there I had their clam chowder and cranberry salad with chicken and it was all great. The atmosphere is casual and there is a separate lounge if you want to order a beer or glass of wine to go with your food. The prices are a little high but the food is plentiful and delicious so it's worth the money.

  • Saige H.

It was good food. Compare to the price we paid, I wouldn't go there much often. We read good reviews so wanted to try. Crab cake was good but nothing really special for me. The vegetable bed under the crab cake has spice in it so If you're sensitive to spice, watch out. The Cod fish and chips were pretty good. Overall, It was good for one time in the sake of vacation but didn't want to go there again with the price we paid.

Best new place in ocean shores. We visit the ocean several times a year and discovered this fabulous place last visit. We have had the; fish tacos, chowder, crab melt and chicken/cranberry salad. All dishes were amazing, big portions prepared in a contemporary way. This is a must if you are going to ocean shores!

I am giving this place one star because my burger was pretty good. However, my husband ordered the halibut fish and chips and found a worm in it. We had the order to go, so I called to let them know what we found. The girl didn't know what to do so she handed the phone to her manager. He also didn't seem to know what to do, offered no apology, only made me feel like I was being accused of lying and said he would have the manager call me tomorrow when she came in. (I thought he was supposed to be the manager). I did not get a phone call back and when I called the next day, same thing, I was told the manager would call me back. Again, no call back. I have been in the restaurant business for 14 years now, and that is no way to treat customers. I simply wanted a refund for just the fish and chips, not the entire ($60) order., but nothing! Not good customer service. Also, their "famous" crab cakes. They were not that great at all, and they were tiny, so definitely not worth $16.99! Their whole menu was overpriced in my opinion, especially when the customer service sucks on top of the mediocre food! I will not visit that restaurant again, or Ocean Shores for that matter, kind of a boring, trashy town.

Got here, a little bit of a line to order and wait, classic pub style but the wait is well worth it. The halibut fish and chips are quite possibly the best i've ever had. DEF recommendED.. LOVE IT! A++++++

Great fish, great salads, great mixed drinks....a bit more expensive, but well worth paying the extra few dollars. The fish and chips were amazing and their tartar sauce was the best I have had. My girlfriend got the grilled chicken salad/fish sandwich combo and they were as good as the fish and chips. And if you are a bloody mary fan...you will be happy with the one they make you.

Great food and huge portions. The ordering process is kinda odd, but it's worth it. so the service seems slow when it actually isn't. You order like a fast food place and the drinks are self service.. then a full service wait staff kicks in..

  • Kristina L.

I got the halibut and chips. The halibut was very good. It was fried crispy brown and had a flakey interior. It was a little on the greasy side, but what can you expect with fried foood. I ordered take out, but there is a bar area and otherwise you order at the counter or seat yourself. They serve Pepsi products and I hear it can get pretty busy. Worth checking out.

We stopped here for lunch on our Washington & Oregon road trip. We shared the Bennett's Best of the Best. Never having eaten Dungeness crab before, I didn't know what to expect, but a taste of the Crab & Cheddar Melt sandwich was absolutely awesome! My wife devoured the cup of clam chowder (but, I was happy to get one spoonful of it, though...) and ate most of the sandwich, while I had the Cranberry Coast Chicken Cashew Salad (I am a cashew fiend!) all to myself. We will be back someday...

Ok food, busy Saturday night, wasn't overly happy with food, or the price for what we had. Clam chowder soup was good. Have tip jar for when you order? Who gets the tips? And why should anyone tip without it going to the staff?

Was a little skeptical because it looks like a hole in the wall but those are usually the best places. And this is definitely one of those places. Very sweet owners! The food was amazing. We got the mushroom burger and the bacon cheeseburger and they were amazing!!! And that's saying a lot because I LOVVVEEE burgers!!! Lol not to mention the fries and onion rings were on point. All for under $20!

We came to the Westport location on a busy sat night. They were so friendly and busting their butts. The food is not McDonald's prices- you are getting amazing fresh seafood. And you can tell. Hubby had the halibut combo. Loved it all. I had crab Caesar salad- to die for. Even the croutons were handmade. The dressing was light and refreshing and not heavy at all. I've had several bad eating experiences in the past 2 weeks and this place saved the day! Oh and we got a surprise discount when the waitress noticed my hubby' s firefighter hat! Thank you for a fantastic first meal on our Westport trip!

The clam chowder was similar to Campbell's soup with extra potatos added. The fried prawns were overcooked and overbattered. The halibut was the best though, lightly breaded with a great flavor, just a tad dry. We ordered at the counter and sat for 30+ minutes beforeour food arrived. The entire cook staff seemed to have left the building for awhile. Then people that came after us, ate before us ... tables of 6 served before a table of 2. We had one server who asked us to get up and move because the table was suppose to only be used for people who ordered from him. Rude. We will never go back, nor recomment this place to anyone. It is just a fried food delivery post with poor customer service. The hostesses were very rude as well but I won't bore you with that tale.

Had the fish soft taco. More like a wrap than a taco. Very good. Different than I've had before. No cilantro. But it was very flavorful and I would order it again. Fries - blah! Cardboard has more flavor (i think). Applewood Bacon Burger - amazing! Halibut - good! Not sure if a value at $16 but good. Mens Room Red was good.

Our hotel, The Grey Gull, recommended Bennett's and a steak house down the street. We tried Bennett's Monday evening around 6 pm. The line was about 4 people long. It is set up to order from the counter, find your seat and they bring out the food when ready. It was packed. We sat at a small table for two. It took about 45 minutes for the food to arrive. In the meantime the line stretched down to our table or about 10 people. The help was great at keeping the tables clean. We both ordered fish and chips and one order of cole slaw. The food arrived hot! It was nicely fried and the cod was tender. The two pieces of fish were huge! We wish we had ordered one and shared. We did not like the cole slaw. Our server said from when they open their doors until about 8 pm they are slammed during season. She wasn't kidding. Despite being busy she checked on us and kept our water glasses full. If you want great food and have time to wait ck it out.

I would like to say.... Surprisingly, coming from the east coast the food could have been better here... Md style crab cakes are the way to go. The dungenous crab cheddar melt was very stringy and had a mushy consistency. The fries were phenomenal. As has been on the west coast, in or around the outskirts of seattle. The clam chowder wasn't good at all. Was very surprised again, by everyone reviews. Maybe it was a bad day in the kitchen!!

Nice seafood restaurant, good food and good service. You order at the counter, then find a seat and your food is brought to your table. The best must have dish is the supper yummy Clam Chowder! It is nice and thick with large chunks of clams and seasoned just right. It comes in 3 size. The raspberry lemonade is also really good, just the right balance of sweet and tart. Also has the fish and chips which are really good as well, served with really good tarter sauce. They also have a vegetarian burger option. Nice large seating area with tables and booths. There is also seasonal outdoor seating. The service is very good too, we'll be back for sure!

My family came to eat here and had a little of everything. Every single thing was great, the fish taco was more of a wrap and everyone's favorite. The cod sand which was a great piece of fish and good. Very highly recommended!

Terrible service. I don't care how wonderful your seafood is. If I can't receive my food in under an hour and pay then pay an exorbitant amount for very little then there is something wrong. It's battered fish and fries. Look elsewhere for food. Don't ever go back.

    (1)
  • Marshall S.

Funny how little towns on the ocean don't seem to know what good seafood is. This place is for young people and old guys with long gray ponytail and ride Harleys. I had the Scallops and my wife had the oysters. Too much breading and the oil they were cooked in tasted old. You order at the counter and pay for it 1st. Then go find a seat. I ordered clam chowder that had the texture of oatmeal, barely warm and no sea food flavor. I told the food delivery person we couldn't eat it and he said why? It is horrible. Acted like no one has ever complained about the food. Said I would have to go back to the pay counter and talk to them. Good thing I waited till after we ate. I went back and waited in line for people to order to then tell the clerk I wanted my money back for the chowder that was uneatable. She said why? I said I just told you. She had to then leave to get the manager. 5 minutes went by before the manager came out and said so what;s the problem? I told him the chowder is uneatable. He said why???? I said you should taste your food, it is horrible. He turned around and didn't come back for another 5 minutes with $ 6.37 refund and said here and walked off. Imagine if I had gone through this and let my dinner get cold first trying to get my refund. I will never go here again. Oh yea, my wife loves oysters and these were the worst she said she has ever had.

Had a great time eating here while visiting from Los Angeles. The food was great! I tried the Southwest burger, which was good. But the fish & chips (halibut) were OUTSTANDING! I told the owner (very friendly guy) I can't wait to come back next time we're in town.

Bennets is a great place. I'm local here and I take my family there often. The food tastes fresh and the service is great.

My wife and I have enjoyed the service and food at this establishment several times during the past couple of years. The service and food has always been very good; however, our last visit was terrible. Went for dinner with two other couples, each couple ordered one right after the other, our order was entered approximately 3 minutes after the second couples' according to our receipt. We did not receive our order for another 20 minutes after our friends orders were received. We were asked by three employees on four different occasions if everything was ok. We requested the status of our order since our friends were almost done eating. Each of those times we watched the employee ask the cook staff but not one of them ever returned to our table with a status. I also personally went to the counter and asked for a status two different times but no answer was ever given. When our food was finally ready it was delivered by the Restaurant Manager. As soon as she approached our table she was reprimanding us on how we did not order correctly and that if we wanted our food all together that we were responsible for letting them know that beforehand. Her approach and tone was completely unnecessary and condescending. Circumstances: #1 It was not busy enough to justify that bar orders bogged down the kitchen as told by the manager (many tables were open). #2 If a staff member states they are going to check on the status they should come back to give a status update. #3 If the order was forgotten (which we feel it was) take ownership with an apology. #4 The Restaurant Manager was rude and very unprofessional. Because of the behavior of the manager and wait staff we will never return.

We did love it! Of course on a Saturday in the Summer when there is a activity going on in town you need to be patient and stand in line. By the time I got to the front of the line Jay had seats in the bar so I left my spot and went to the bar. Bartenders were very efficient and professional. Food was AMAZING! We each had the halibut/clam strip combo. $19.99. Came with fries - We should have only ordered 1 and shared it was that much food. The clams strips were large and very well prepared. Perfectly cooked. The Halibut the same! I LOVED the fries! We also had a dungenness crab cocktail $13.99. It was good but the "lettuce bed" could have been smaller - felt I was wasting food. Drinks in the bar were good - price was to be expected for vacation destination. When I went to pay the bartender might have seen my military ID or Jay just looks the part and he gave us a military discount. I was shocked to see it was 20%. What an awesome thought on the part of management. We will be back! We drove over from Bremerton just for the day. Oh, and we had the bartender with the bow tie too and he was very nice and professional. Never saw rude people in the place as others have.

Food is great service is slow and awkward. We stood at the main counter for a good two minutes before anyone said anything to us, and yes it took a while to get the food but worth the wait.
